Thanks Graham. I can't imagine anyone going up there tbh. It's a private road, and so marked which would put people off. I had a chat to the farmer a few years ago about going up and he said it was ok, we were wild camping at the time... Since then I've just drove up for picnics etc...

I guess each day that passes ruins the electronics and motors so it's going to be trash soon anyway...

Tony wrote:Hopefully this link will work, you will need satellite view on maps... The boxed area on the map is some kind of enclosure for sheep... The spare ground beside there is where I parked the car... Following that road up the map is where the quad is... Not sure if it's on the left or right side of that road...

Anyway at least you can see how remote it is
Seems like it's pretty open though if you could get another quad up there with FPV gear you could cover a lot of ground quickly.

What was the last thing you saw before you lost signal?
How high was the quad when you lost signal?
Did you cut the throttle immediately?
What was the wind direction?
Set a post where you were standing, one where you think you lost signal, and one in the direction of the wind out as far as you think it could be, then double it, because you never know how far it went.
Then you have a wind direction and limit. Then just criss cross that area from the outer post, back to the start.
You will find it Tony if you search methodically.

If I can find a quad in a river in muddy water and slug on the bottom, you can find one sitting in a field.
It just comes down to time and patience.
Maybe some of the electronics will be dead, but not all, or the frame.
Keep at it mate. You WILL find it. :)

ive made a feeble attempt to draw some details on the google map view... the purple dots show the line of flight, then i lost it... gave it throttle because i thought it was going to hit the car.... you might have to zoom in to pic

What antenna are you using, maybe you got into a blind spot in your reception, sounds like you were close or above yourself, there is a old building in the Google map is that still standing walls or just a foot print, maybe you got behind it reception wise, just clutching at straws here,

what was the last view of the car you had passenger side or drivers side,

on the quad i had the circular polarised antenna, same on the goggles plus the normal whip antenna...

everything happened so quickly, last thing i saw through the goggles was the back of the car, i gave it some throttle as i thought it was going to hit the car.. and that was the end of it... i was pretty sure i heard it crash land, but maybe it didnt. we have combed that area time and time again...

there is an old cave entrance further up the hill, to the right and up of the current view, been up there and found nothing.

to the left where all the pens are for the sheep, been in there, nothing. walked along both sides of the walls to the left.....

tomorrow we are going back and are going to walk in the direction of the wind up the hills.. our last visit before we give up..

If you were about to hit the car, then gave it throttle, How long before you dropped the throttle?
It can,t be that far away from the car then surely?

Take your time and try to be methodical. I've spent a few hours in total trying to find my sj4000 after I've put my quad in and you never seem to find it where you expect too.

Tony...I've spoken with you before and you give me the impression to be a very sensible guy and I strongly believe that you've given a strong effort in finding your downed quad. You have my best wishes for tomorrows search. I sure hope you find it.

Thanks Derek.... Yes I'm sensible... Haha. Stupid place to do my first fpv flight... I read a post on another forum Graham had asked for help on... And the member asked how much flight time I reconned there was left on the lipo.... Hmmm I thought, I've just put a fully charged one on... So thinking how far could it have flown with a 20-30mph wind up its bum at full throttle.... Wow.... So I asked Graham to have a look for it in his field... :D :D he lives about 350 miles away.... Haha

If you heard it hit something surely it must be reasonably close, good luck with the search mate.

I have to agree, here. If the sound was heard, it's gotta be within 50 yards....right?
