Had some more bits delivered today, 10 4s 1000mah 35c packs giving me a total of 12

I've done the mammoth task of changing all the fittings to deans, god I hate soldering.

The 4 3s packs that I had are now going to be used for powering goggles using the diy cable that came with my dominators and I will only be running porket on 4s, 3.5 mins of aerial mayhem each.

The only other upgrade I want to do is a new recording camera but at the moment I am torn between the mobius or the sj5000+ (1080p 60fs)

Wow, that's some lipo packs Dan, mint.. The reviews on the 5000 sound good, but the mobius has a much lower profile and less drag when your doing a ton.... :D :D

Yeah Ive thought about the weight and drag difference but then I see videos @ 60f/s (sj5000 +) and there is so much more detail.

well ive had an eventful day, i changed the fc out for a flip32 put cleanflight on and sorted the tail issue out. Only a motor catch fire in the air (my own fault for flying back to back packs), quad fell from about 100ft smashed the top frame and broke the fitting of the new 600mw vtx :(

on the up side the new goggles are awesome and the tail issue is sorted.

heres a video of the first flight with the old fc

The frame broke because of the sj4000 being zip tied to the top of the frame, so ive ordered a mobius and a new motor, hopefully they should be with me on saturday soo i can gget it back in the air over the weekend.

Heres the footage from the crash, i had no control once the nose started to tip forwards and when i got too the other side oof the field where the quad was there was smoke coming from motor 1 (rear right)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYtLu2ZsgEI

Im going to do a post crash tear down later to try to find the issue.

Thanks Kev, ive found the issue, the prop on motor 1 was loose when i inspected it, which i dont understand as i use nyloc nuts and i didnt pick up on it in my pre flight checks and i had flown 8 packs without issue. This has let the motor spin up without any resistance hence the motor burning out and setting the bearing oil on fire. The fire hasn't damaged the arm, just the motor.

wow, Dan, firstly, that first video with the goggle image superimposed was awesome, mint idea. i did notice in the goggle image your view appears much further away than you actually were.... just before you landed there was a white vertical line on the screen... what was that?

as for the crash, that sucks mate, but a lesson to us all i guess. dont just check those prop nuts, DOUBLE check them... an easy mistake any of us could have done. ill be double checking mine in future. who would have thought that could happen eh... wow...

hope you get it in the air soon mate...

What motor is that Dan, and Phil is super quick at the moment, but his stock is running low,

Thanks tony, Im trying to work on making my videos a bit more interesting with the dvr, music, intro and outro.

The white line is lens flare from the sun, it doesn't look very bright on the sj4000 footage because i hadn't changed the settings from the last flight but the ccd camera picked it up when pointing towards the sun

KevG wrote:What motor is that Dan, and Phil is super quick at the moment, but his stock is running low,
The motors are DYS 1806 2300kv they have been tested and run fine on 4s with 5" props, as long as the props are tightened down.

Im going to have to start doing pre-flight checks before every flight instead of before every session especially now I have a dozen batteries' and change the nyloc nuts more often.

You live and learn..... Usually the hard way.
