Pitt and Ail question on the AR's
Hello all. When it comes to connecting servos to AR7200BX/7300BX the Pit "AUX1" is connected to the right side of the heli If you are facing the tail end of the heli according to the manual. Mr Derek and other members has their Aileron servo connected to the right side . I think murankar mention that it doesn't make a difference as long as the servos respond to the stick control command. Should I connect the way the manual said or the opposite way that many members suggest I should do? Thanks!

Re: Pitt and Ail question on the AR's
It doesn't matter in some cases, but i'd set it up as the manual says.
In the Ikon, it tells you which servo is which in a diagram.

Go with the documentation. If it is not spelled out then aileron is on the right and pitch on the left.

Re: Pitt and Ail question on the AR's
Thank you gentlemen. Now I have to get the tail shake out. My gyro is set at FM Gyro on the DX6 is Normal=60, stunt1=50,stunt2=40. Just #'s I started with.

Re: Pitt and Ail question on the AR's
Yeah, it's just like I told you the other day, DOG, all of my helicopters have the Aileron on the right and Pitch on the left. However, you did show me, in the BX Manual, that it shows the Pitch servo on the right and the Aileron on the left. Whether the Pitch is on the left/right and the Aileron is on the right/left, that won't make any difference as long as the servos move properly when stick input is given and the AR has appropriate compensation direction, meaning if you tilt the helicopter to the right, the swash should lean to the left and vise versa. Since the manual shows the Pitch on the right and the Aileron on the left, I would set it up that way. Will it make any difference? I can't answer that question because I don't know anything about the gyro.
As for your tail gains...I think you're gonna find them a bit low.
Mine are:
Normal Mode: 79.5
Stunt 1: 70.0
Stunt 2: 60.0
Hold 79.5
You asked if you could use these numbers. Yes, you can but be very aware of what's going on. No one's numbers will work 100% for another person. I just can't see it happening. Basically, you need to set your gains to a number, 70 for example. Hover the helicopter and see what the tail is doing. If the tail is wandering to the left, then you need to raise the gain value. Land the helicopter and raise the gain by 5%. Hover again and see what the tail is doing. Keep doing this until the tail is not wandering and begins to wag, left and right. Once you get to the wagging, you are close. Land the helicopter and then lower the gain little by little until the tail is no longer wagging, no longer wandering, and stays solid. You'll do this for each flight mode and then, generally, your HOLD gain is the same (or a bit higher) than your Normal Mode gain setting.
It takes time. It's a tedious process but the pay off is well worth the effort.

Re: Pitt and Ail question on the AR's
Thanks Derek for those numbers. I started at 79.5 in normal mode and the heli tail shake bad. So i went all the way down to 31.5 for normal mode and no shake. Now what do I set my stunt mode 1/2 at If my Normal mode is 31.5? Can anyone throw some #'s for stunt 1/2.

Re: Pitt and Ail question on the AR's
If you are at 31.5, you ar in rate mode. That means that your tail is not mechanically set properly

Re: Pitt and Ail question on the AR's
Dx6 is negative numbers for rate mode. Positive numbers for head hold.

Re: Pitt and Ail question on the AR's
Thanks murankar. Now I understand why my gain so low in order to get my tail to stop shaking. I think I got it. I'm suppose to start between 42/43.5 Well, while It stop raining and I'm going outside to get this heli dial in before the next band of rain comes. Thanks for the information murankar.

Re: Pitt and Ail question on the AR's
Thank you,Thank you, Thank you! I have normal mode dial in now. When I do the stunt 1 and stunt 2, should the throttle curve be linear while making these adjustment? Part two...... Now I have my normal mode set @31.5 do I increase the gain and by what or do I decrease the gain and by what? Hope that make sense.

Re: Pitt and Ail question on the AR's
And there's my "something learned" for the day, lol.murankar wrote:Dx6 is negative numbers for rate mode. Positive numbers for head hold.
This would explain why the higher numbers make your tail wag around, DOG. So, you have your setting at 31.5 and it's holding solid. Awesome! Generally, your normal throttle curve will top out at a lower percentage than stunt 1 and 2. For example, my throttle curve in normal mode is 0, 35, 75,75,75. Then stunt 1 is flat 85 and stunt 2 is flat 95 or flat 100....and obviously flat 0 for throttle hold. Your gyro gains in stunt 1 will be less than normal mode because you have a higher head speed. Higher head speed means the tail is spinning faster...that means you need less gain to keep a solid tail. Same thing with stunt 2, that gain will be less than stunt 1....again, because the head speed is higher.
So, when you are setting your gains for stunt 1, you will decrease your gains little by little, from the 31.5 until the tail is solid. Same thing for stunt 2. You'll decrease the gains, little by little, from your stunt 1 number.

Re: Pitt and Ail question on the AR's
Due to some technical difficulties my esc is stuck in governor mode at the moment. But my curves for iu 1 are a flat 35 and iu 2 is at something like 80. What's going to happen is my normal mode will be the flat 35, iu1 becomes something like 60 and 2 stays the same.

I'm going to fly tomorrow and I'm going to play with 35 gain on the tail and see what happens from there.
