That will be good to see. I've been given a 7" LCD TV that I'm going to use as a viewing monitor it should plug straight into my goggles, once I get around to making a couple of cables up for it.

dude...I can relate to that. I have 3 days off this weekend and "so" much that I want to get done. Only a small fraction will actually get done, but...getting a video of my fpv monitor to the Hangout is something that I will get done.

Well, I am absolutely disgusted right now. I have the tv running off a 3S pack. I have the video system working properly. I can verify that because I see myself through my Fatsharks. However, now, when I disconnect the Fatsharks and try to run the video through the tv, I just get blue screen. The frustrating part is that I had it all working this afternoon. Now....nothing.

So, I disconnected everything and put it away for the night. I'll try again tomorrow. Bummer!

Well now...how difficult can this be? lol

I've tried this again. Plugged in batteries to the quad (which powers up the vtx and camera), to the vrx, and to the tv. The tv powers up. The vtx is talking to the vtx because I can plug the video cable into the Fatsharks and I see myself. I have the tv "source" set for "Component/AV" and the yellow video cable plugged into the Video port on the tv but the tv displays "No Signal". It's just odd. The most odd part about this is that I did have it all working yesterday morning. When I tried it last night, and also tonight, I get "No Signal". It's as if the FPV Gods don't want me to use the tv, ha ha ha.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? I have tried different video cables to the tv and still get the same result. lol....it's just odd.

Unfortunately, no. There are other types of video input but only one set of av input.

Yellow video cable is usually for a "composite" input, not a "component" input. Component input usually has 3 different video ports for red, green, and blue signals. The yellow only video jack is called "composite" since it has all the video planes on a single signal and cable.

There's also s-video (a slightly higher quality composite type signal) and hdmi (HD digital signal connection type). Then there's scart and some others more popular in Europe and Asia.

The other day when I had it working, I am sure that I had the one yellow video cable to the video av port and then the other end went to my vrx. I guess I can try the other ports that accept the same type of plug. If that doesn't work, I may see about getting an HDMI to AV cable. Granted, my video signal is not HD but maybe the HDMI port will at least allow me to hook everything up and have it work.

That should be right.
As Paul said above, I never caught that until I looked again, component/AV is normally RGB (Red Green Blue).
Try hooking it up and select a different AV source with the remote.
My TV has AV and Component AV/RGB and I use the AV setting for my VTX when I hook it up.

OK...I do have the component/av and that is RGB. There isn't a yellow video port. The yellow is what I'm use to seeing but it's not there. I'm going to see about getting an HDMI to AV cable. The AV cable would connect to the vrx and the HDMI would then connect to the side of the tv where the HDMI port is. I can select the HDMI setting on the tv and see what happens.

My Dad came down earlier and we hooked everything up. Turned everything on and the system was working. I was actually a bit angry. Then we unplugged the signal cable and reconnected it and the system wouldn't work. We tried a few other things and couldn't get it to work. We shut things down and Dad went home. I reconnected everything, just curiosity, and it worked. Then I disconnected the signal cable and reconnected it......and no video again.

Bummer!

HDMI to AV may not be available. HDMI is a digital format whereas you're wanting analog. It would require an active converter to make it work.

You may have luck plugging your single video source RCA into the green channel of the component input and then selecting that component/AV input from the TV menu.

Reading your post fully, do you need to make sure the video source is turned on and connected before turning on the TV? Sounds like it is having issues if you power down or disconnect the source while the TV is already on.

I can't give an honest answer, Paul. I just don't know. I can't imagine why it would matter what unit was turned on first.

Never know. May need to sync up with the source at power up vs turning on the source afterwards.

Derek it has worked, and according to this it should work without anything extra.
http://www.target.com/p/element-19-clas ... A-14715463
It states-- Input Type: Component YCbCr/YPbPr + L/R Audio, Composite Video, HDMI Port
It also says-- Number of Composite Video Inputs: 1
There has to be something we are not getting.
Can you post close up pics of all the inputs.

Here are some pics:

This picture is of the inputs on the back of the tv. On the far left, that's the 12V input where I've plugged in the battery. The green input port is where I've plugged in the yellow video cable. Those are the only two that I've used.

This picture is of the last of the inputs on the tv. These inputs are on the side of the tv.

I hope these pics can give you guys some ideas and thoughts that you can share with me. I'm really hoping to have this work...reliably.

Thanks for your time!

That should be correct, green is labeled Y/Video, which should mean it does both functions.
It could be the TV setting, try hooking it all up again and keep pressing AV on the remote to see if you get a picture.
OSD on the TV should say something like Composite rather than Component/AV.
Although it may sound strange, the order that you turn things on may make a difference,
I would also try hooking everything up, power up the VRX and turn on the TV last, or other variations.
It has to work, it will just be a matter of finding out the method you used to make it work before.

When you unplug the source from the TV while it is working, then plug it back in, do you reselect the "component/AV" input on the OSD? It may be auto-switching away from that input, searching for a new feed to use and then reverting to a default when nothing is found?

unfortunately, I didn't get to mess with the tv today. I'm going to see about getting an HDMI to RCA cable. Maybe the tv will like that better. I just don't know.
