Post by Lee »

Just ordered one to try.
Want something I can just lob on a plane or whatever, with no fuss, or wires.

Its a VTX built in. So no need for wires or nothing.
Just velcro to what ever you want, hey presto FPV when you want it.

There is a slight lag.
Worse in 1080, but flyable in 720.
If you were using it for FPV racing, or close quarter action, that wouldn't work.
You would hit something for sure.
But just for normal free flying, it works well.
I'm going to stick it on my glider, the radjet, and my QAV 500.

Sounds great then Lee, I presume the VTX requires power from the lipo, does it also supply power to the mobius?

Yeh, you can either piggy back off your flight pack via a BEC for 5V,
or use a small 1 cell lipo.

I use my Mobius as FPV cam on my AXN (not that I have flown it for a while) and it is fine.
Good clear picture and because I am not tree dodging, the small amount of lag is not an issue.

Well 18 days later, it has arrived.
I did a quick test in the house.
Picture is good and the lag is negligent.

I will be putting it on my glider and testing tomorrow.

Well here are my thoughts on the dock.

The picture quality was great. Not as clear as my PZ0240 board cams on my quads, but perfectly adequate.
Through the goggles, the picture is narrower than the goggle can handle, but I was still immersed enough in the flight, not to notice.
I flew the furthest away from myself, than I have ever done before.

The 200mW VTX handle it perfectly. Not a single drop out. Clear picture through the whole flight.
I did have however, some lines across the screen when flying at the wind turbines.
Seems they cause some interference. If I cupped my hand around the antenna cable on my goggles, they went away.
Maybe i'll try some tinfoil, wrapped around it next time :)

I can absolutely say, that anyone with a mobius camera, and goggles, or screen, needs one of these.
Such a simple solution for on the spur of the moment FPV.
Just stick some velcro, on whatever you want, and bam!, instant FPV.

Video of my first flights is in Lee's FPV Glider flights thread, in the flight log forum.
