A rant

Post by xaero »

This is a rant from me. By the way hi everyone it was awhile ago i posted here. Ok now to the topic. I love this hobby it is a hobby that give me so much in return. But at same time it is a hobby limited off what pilots will share. For example on youtube. The most pilots dont post their biggest crash or mistages they doing on the field. Why? Simple if post something major the pilot get so much hate and bullshit. I did a major crash last year and when i posted it on youtube i recived hate mail and alot of crap from alot of others in this hobby. Ever since then i also almost have lost every viewer i had on my videos. However i use youtube mainly as storage for my flightvideos so i dont get my hard drive full. :) I use my videos mainly for my own progress to see myself what progress i have done. But the point is if this is what we really want our hobby to be? I posted that major crash because i wanted to provide a reminder to everyone in this hobby what can happen. But i took it down because all the hate and bullshit i recived. So the question is this do it move this hobby forward in any way by behave as a ahole toward anyone who have the guts to actually post it? I say NOWAY it destroy alot for everyone.

Its a shame this has happened to you:( Like Clay, sometimes i dont always have video, but if i do i post crashes. One of my last videos is of a friend crashing my quad.
When you enter this hobby you build , fly, crash, repeat as Clay said.

You would not get grief on this site for such videos:)
Dont let a few bad eggs spoil your hobby:)

If you put a video of fluffy kittens playing with a ball of wool, someone will dislike it.
The give you a thumbs down, and write a bad comment.
There are trolls out there, just trying to egg you into a verbal fight.
Ignore all that crap, and have fun. They are only jealous :)

Don't mind the trolls in the comment section.
And, as Lee says, dislikes on ANY video is inevitable.

Also, what you're really addressing here is how to manage a youtube channel, and whether or not views matter for you. IMO, if views and positive comments are what you want, you'll need to adapt to your viewers - and consider your target audience. If you don't care on the other hand, and only post videos with the intent of sharing your moments with us - then carry on, mate! :D

Well it have nothing to do with maintaining a youtube channel. Views and stuff like that really dosent matter. As i said i use youtube as storage like a harddrive to save space on my computer. The point was more i find it strange thats all.

I agree, posting the crashes and mistakes are important too. Keep in mind you can control if comments or thumbup/down ratings are allowed on videos you post to YouTube, both as default settings or on an individual video basis. You cna also turn off comments/ratings on videos after you've posted them if things get out of hand on the viewer feedback.

And a lot of viewers may not have much or any rc helicopter experience. A depending on your circle of online friends and subscribers, you may well get a lot of BS comments that come from a spectacle and carnage standpoint, rather than people in the hobby.

I never saw the video in question, at least I don't think I did. I do recall you talking about the negative commenting you got when you posted it though. Sorry you had a bad experience.
