My Goblin 570 build

Post by Lee »

I made a few build photos for anyone interested in building a 570.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Image

Canopy is bigger than a Trex 600

Image

I love the packaging. Easy to work through with the manual.

Image

Image

I sanded the frame edges to prevent wire damage.

Image

Cleaned all screws with alcohol and paper towel.

Image

Frame assembly

Image

Image

Image

Image

The drive unit assembly.

Tail servo mounted

Image

Image

Head assembly

Image

Motor mount. Scorpion 4025 550KV
Drive belt centred on pulley

Image

Image

ESC placement under the battery tray. Bolts were too long, so I ground them flat to the nuts for the canopy to slide on properly.

Image

The tail assembly is unique in having dampers like a head has.
The link are of axis, which confused me. Having checked other peoples, they are the same.

Image

Image

Tail plate and fin.

Image

The BK servos.
I discovered that they don't fit on the frame, with the brass and rubber grommets.
They hit the centre bearing mount. But if you remove the grommets, there is a lot of play in the servo mounts.
I remedied this by placing spacers over the screws made from an old antenna tube.

Image

FBL mount plate.

Image

Rear plate can be used for an RX. I will use it as a place for my Scorpion backup guard.

Image

Head assembly in place. I love the lines to show 0º

Image

Tail assembly attached to boom.
Very easy to put together. Four bolts. Once the belt is on, just pull back the tail to get the tension on the belt and tighten the screws.

Image

Canopy has a nice rubber trim around the edge. I had enough left over to do the motor window as well.

Image

Image

CC BEC PRO under the base plate.

Image

Wiring is all in the back, easy to access. Note the shrink tubing over the tie wraps to avoid damaging the wiring.
The spare servo connector is for the Scorpion BUG.

Image

Had to put some "Align Bling" in somewhere LOL
BUG connector in top right corner for easy removal.

Image

BUG in place. This provides 5V to the system in the case of brown outs or BEC failure. This allows you to land safely.

Image

Made my own Y harness to power the IKON with the two BEC leads and the Scorpion BUG.
One BEC lead goes to the Ikon directly, the other one, and the BUG goto the Y lead, then to the Ikon.

Image

Servo wiring.

Image

Image

Blades were perfectly balanced, out of the bag.

Image

I used nonslip mat, under the batteries.

Image

And the finished product.

That is a brilliant build, nice photos Lee. How much did the whole kit cost?

Watched those videos before and again and again...lol, there awesome, nice smooth flying there Lee

Headspeed doesn't sound very high either, yet it just coped with the manoeuvres with ease..

Sounds good, no bogging or anything.. Just maintains a steady speed....

Ok, next year I want one of these birds, how much was it Lee for everything to get it airborne, and will it work with a dx6i, or do I need to upgrade tx too

You can use your DX6I. If it works on your 450, it works on any electric heli.
Unless you are using extra channels, like scale builds with light etc.

Some do just depends on the what you use for a motor. Typically nitro needed an extra channel for the govenor. Now a days with escs and gyros improving external governors are a dying breed. There is a small amount of gyros that need either and external or ESC based govenor.

It would be better to have 7ch+ for gov and gain, but it is possible to use the DX6I, just not ideal.
