RCX250 3K Carbon (DT Version)
After getting my first RCX H250 and loving it, I decided to purchase another.
This one is the same dimensions as the first, just full 3K carbon, instead of composite.
It also has a different hole pattern (DT Version)
I also bought one for Tony that is exactly the same as my original, just also in full 3K Carbon.
First inspection of the frame was disappointing.
The frame looked like it had been cut out with a butter knife. All the holes and edges were damaged by the tooling.
Compare this to my first frame, that was cut very cleanly.
This time I purchased some PDBs (power distribution boards)
What a difference in ease of wiring. Cleaner, and a lot less frustration.
Stuck them to the frame with 3M tape.
Unfortunately the hole spacing for the PDB and my OP CC3D board were not compatible to be able to stack.
I had a CC3D case, so stuck that with 3M tape in the centre of the PDB.
The rest of the main build was the same as my other thread, so I won't repeat it here.
I added my PZ0420 camera to the frame. This one has had the lens changed to a wide angle one, taken from an old Go Pro Hero camera I had laying around.
Much better field of view for racing.
As you can see, the camera does stick out a touch, which isn't good in a head on crash.
So I took two of the feet that comes with the kit, that I never use, and made a camera lens saver
And there she is. Ready for a beating LOL

That's sweet Lee, nice build again, carbon did not look as clean though, so tempted to get one going

Re: RCX250 3K Carbon (DT Version)
Just a quick update to this model.
I have removed the vibration dampers, as they were too soft.
During hard stops after flips and rolls, I was getting a bounce back.
Some of this was due to settings, but most was the dampers.
Now with a high density foam block underneath, its much better.
Also you'll notice a slight angle upwards to my new Mobius (thanks Tony).
This is to give a more level view during fast forward flight, instead of a lot of video of the ground
I have slung the battery underneath, instead of on top like most people do.
This gives the quad a lower CG. Better for fast flight, as it makes the quad more stable and less work for the Flight controller.

Umm, FPV, you just look where you are going.
I cannot fly one of these LOS, they are just too small, I lose orientation to quickly even with coloured props.

Re: RCX250 3K Carbon (DT Version)
Nope no FPV yet, all line of sight.
It just comes with experience.
If you are just hovering around, then thats difficult, but if you are flying fast, then its just like a plane.
The front is the bit leading

Re: RCX250 3K Carbon (DT Version)
I like the idea of running the battery on the underside.
That would free up space for a gps module (I fancy one to play with).

Re: RCX250 3K Carbon (DT Version)
I fancy gps too Dan, need a different controller though than the one that's in mine, but I'll get that next year if I get well into this quad thing...

Re: RCX250 3K Carbon (DT Version)
Open pilot Dan same as me and you now
I think if you are going for GPS, you will want a bigger platform.
It will add a lot of weight.
I would go for 400 or bigger if I was putting GPS on board. The QAV400 is a good option or maybe the Blackout 330.

Re: RCX250 3K Carbon (DT Version)
Been playing with the settings on the CC3D to get it flying perfectly.
In this video, there are three set ups.
First is my current settings
Second are the old settings
And third are Dans settings
Although all seem smooth in the video, the sticks tell a different story.
My old settings and Dans were much harder to control in high speed turns. The quad always wanted to tip over. So I had to work hard to keep it level.
My new settings are almost there now. I don't need to make any corrections to keep the quad balanced through the turn.
Also in wind, you can notice a huge difference in stability.
This is fixed by increasing the I value in relation to the P gain.
You will see that I denote a change in settings with a roll axis wobble.
Thanks for watching.

Re: RCX250 3K Carbon (DT Version)
So you can change profiles in flight?
Nice feature.
That first profile definitely looks better on turns.
I found too, that I makes a big difference in stability and cranking it up slowly the quad gets that more "locked in" feeling, it just stays where you put it.
The advantages of having a more experienced pilot helping you set up your machine are not to be overlooked.
Going out on your own and just doing it like many of us have done is a lot slower process but you do learn a lot along the way.
I now have 2, soon to be 3 other people flying miniquads around me and all have benefited from the time I have spent learning about Naze32 setup.
Mine is still far from perfect but it is certainly a lot better than when I first flew it.

Lee for mounting cos you have rotated it, what value did you put in the yaw, was it -90 or +90, mine is rotated but I have mine with the esc pins to the rear.
