I was out at the flying field yesterday and one of the other members was telling me about the OS GT15HZ gasser motor. Looks like I might have an upgrade coming in the not so distant future... :D . It's a direct replacement for the OS 91H...just a little mod on the fan shroud for the carb to clear. Not as much power...but cleaner exhaust and runs on pump gas/oil mix....not to mention 30 minute flights.

IT'S ALIVE!!...well almost...lol. Today I got the head & GPro set up. About all it needs now is a starting shaft and some nitro. On another note...I didn't pull one of the bearing shields out of the outer bearing before I installed it, so the motor is coming back out for another tear down. I noticed the old one was open on the crankcase side, but figured since the new bearing came with both shields it was supposed to be that way. Live and learn!! lol

Well I ordered the gasser engine and tuned pipe, along with an aluminum Lynx high output fan to help cool it. On the way home I'm going to stop by the small engine repair shop to pick up some Tygon fuel line, since the silicone nitro line isn't gasoline resistant. Hopefully the engine gets here soon...or I'll have to go ahead and fire this puppy up as a nitro!! :D

Well the postman brought me a few more goodies for the Rex. Still have the Dubro quick pump and a 1 gallon can on the way for my fueling station. Hopefully the engine and pipe ship soon.... :)

Well my gasser engine and pipe shipped from rcjapan a few days ago, and just went inbound to Chicago customs. Hopefully I won't have to wait long for them to process the package, or have to pay any sort of duties or fees. I am SOOOOOOO ready to get this thing maidened!!

FINALLY!!! My engine and pipe cleared customs and showed up today....too bad I still have half a day of work to go....(COUGH COUGH)... :D . Hopefully if all goes well I will get to installing this beast tomorrow night.

Yep! It's not as powerful as the 91HZ, but I'm more of a sport flyer, so I'm sure it will be fine. The only drawback is the size of the carb getting in the way of cooling the cylinder. I don't have to work my night job tonight, so I'll definitely be wrenching on this!! :twisted:

Time to install the fan and clutch, but I don't have a crank locking tool. I just pull the head off and stuff a paper towel in the cylinder, then put the head back on with a couple of bolts.

Since the carb is so big the fan shroud needs to be trimmed so that it will fit. A Dremel and a small sanding drum made pretty quick work of it. I also got the temperature sensor in place.
