Naze 32 Full:)

Post by Graham Lawrie »

Started playing with the Naze as it was really hard to control today. (just a quick hover in the back garden) It spun to the left all on its own which you can see in the video, it spins to view my shed. I will post the video when it uploads.

I think i have sussed how to do the set up for level. Biggest drawback is that the DX6i has two position switches not 3. In baseflight the Gui i had assigned a beeper to operate in what would be IU.

Need some more investigation, looks like 3 flight modes and i can only use 2 with a combination of 3 choices eg 1 & 2, 1 & 3, 2 & 3, 1 & 3.

To be continued....................

maybe its weird quad day mate. It looked like it wanted to roll left all the time, im not 100% but i would say that its the accelerometer bias/level setup like you said.

Hope you get it sorted mate

I have just ordered a Flip32 which is the same as a Nase32.
I will flash it with Cleanflight instead of Baseflight.
Really keen to try the auto tune feature. Have you tried that Graham?

Not yet Lee:) I want this one set up right first then i was going to try it:) Good video on youtube how to do it. Wobbling in the air during flight on autotune seems daunting:(

Are you flying in acro or self level Graham?
If you have self level set and it is drifting left, land, disarm, set your throttle full and apply right stick full and listen for beeps or watch LED flashes.
More beeps or flashes means more correction.
Same with forward or backward drift, full throttle and apply correction.
That just fine tunes the level trim.
You can do the same in the configurator by typing numbers but I find the above way easier.

If you are flying acro, crank up your I gain a little on the affected axis.

Lee I have been watching Cleanflight with interest and will give it a try at some stage soon.
I am soon going to build a wooden frame around 300 size with big motors, big props and running 4S.
I may try it on that.

Hi Stambo flying Acro on default settings at the moment. Not set up self level etc as not sure how to do it. Started looking into it yesterday.

Is it the tick feature, angle, horizontal? I am using a DX6i which has only two position switches:)

How many switches do you have?
Can you mix 2 switches on one channel with the DX6i?

All you really need is 2 flight modes.
You only need to tick angle so one position is angle, the other is acro which is default when nothing else is active.
Horizon mode is a cross between the two, it allows you to do flips and rolls past 50% stick deflection and self levels at mid stick.

I have Angle and Horizon ticked but all you need is Angle.
Obviously you have to assign the switch to one of the Aux channels in your Tx.
You also need to decide whether Angle is default flight mode and the switch turns it off.
When you first take off in angle mode you may have to trim you quad as described in my previous post.
Be prepared for it to want to move off in some direction and need correction.

As for your yaw problem, look in the Receiver tab and see if the yaw stick is correctly centred.
You will need Tx on and battery connected so BE CAREFUL, REMOVE PROPS FOR SAFETY.
If it is not centered, tweak your subtrim until it is. On mine, centre is 1500.

If this doesn't help, go to the CLI and type
set yaw
It will list anything to do with yaw.
Take a note of what yaw deadband is set to.
As a quick test, you could type (or copy and paste) the following
set yawdeadband = 20
and see if the yaw problem still persists.
You may have a very "sloppy" yaw at midstick so if it makes a difference you need to calibrate your tx and then set this back to a lower level.
You can normally set this between 6 and 10 without any issues.
Good luck. :)

Sounds like calibrating the Tx or increasing the yaw deadband would have done the trick. :)

I've seen some people launch their mini quads by actually tossing them into the air and then throttling up...the flight controller then levels the quad out for a very nice hover.

Can this be done with the Naze32?
