I've tried that. It seems to get worse as the power in the pack gets lower. It could possibly be because the arms are further away from the centre than on a zmr, blackout qav250 ect, as the arms on these models are angled towards the centre of the model and on the porket they are at the ends of the frame.
I will have to do a re tune when the 5045 props arrive, I'm hoping that they fix the issue.

I forgot to mention that I've had the I gain maxed out on the yaw axis and it didn't make any difference I didn't even get any oscillation which leads me to beleve that the thrust from the props is too weak to make the rudder hold, also the rotation speed is really slow, if I turn the yaw rate up the problem gets worse (more over rotation)

Ive been through the whole setup again. ive calibrated the esc's and set up the radio, and then added the rest of the settings one by one (add one fly add next fly ect). And it turns out that its there yaw rate setting, if the yaw rate is set to anything above 0 the tail overshoots with only a slight increase in rotation speed, I still believe this to be due to prop authority on the rudder and hope that the higher pitch props help to cure the problem.

The hq props that i ordered arrived this morning and ive had the chance to put a few flight on the porket to tune for the new props.

These props have totally cured the yaw issue that i was having and make the quad feel really floaty, I like it.

Ive done a bit of pid tuning this afternoon heres where im up to, im using pid controller 1. the crash at the end of the video was due to the rotation rate catching me off guard.

Nice flight Dan, looks like you are about ready for some smaller gaps and lower flying. :)

Perhaps a little more altitude was in order. :)

lol. i was supposed to be testing hard pitch stops little bugger was a bit quick, roll and a half before i realised i was just getting on the throttle when it touched down. Its so much more responsive with the 5045's.

Its just the nearest place to fly. both football pitches are less than a 5 min walk. Once ive got it a bit more dialed in im going to find some different terrain's to fly ive been asking around and found a couple of abandoned quarries that are pretty close, one of them is about 600m x 300m they should make for some interesting flying

I got to fly 4 packs this evening, trying out new pids and concentrating on throttle management. This is the last pack of the day. Enjoy.

Nice flying, you have come a long way since those first tentative flights.
That goal post at 2:11 was a close call, I cringed. :)
Nice landing. :P

Next exercise, maintain constant low altitude at varying speeds and turns. :)

Thanks guys. Next round of flights I want to try and get the d gains sorted out I've still got a bit of bounce on hard stops (pitch and roll).
Once I've got a bit more stock of props I'm going to practice lower stuff. I'm off work next week and am going to try to get some hardcore flying in, if mother nature cooperates.

What are your d gains set @ Stambo? I know they would be different because of the different frame but I'm interested in seeing the differences in gains that people use.

Very nice flying.... Question, when do you draw the line and say... Right these settings are great, now I can just enjoy the craft. Or is it a constant battle to get perfection... What is perfection? That flight to me was just awesome

To me perfection is super smooth video, no oscillation and no bounce on stops while still feeling crisp, sharp and connected. I'm getting closer with every flight I make. All my tuning now is done when I review the video shot from my flights. I record every flight and watch it back maybe 4-5 times looking for oscillations, bounce and general smoothness, then I make small alterations to the 3 profiles then fly each one to see the differences.

Yup, exactly what I do, although I do have in flight tuning set up now.
I will post up my settings tonight when I get home although they are far from what I would call perfect.

Depends entirely on what you want, it seems Dan and I want smooth video but not at the cost of agility.
Someone else might be happy with a well handling quad and not be interested in the video so they don't need to be so fussy.
It is not a constant battle but rather a slow process to get to where we want.
The quad flies well long before you get to the stage we are looking for.

Yep If I just wanted a quad that flew well, my tuning would be over in 5 mins.
But to get totally smooth video, for a perfectionist (like me ) it can take quite a long time.
