Mini Quad has just been ordered

well..as long as it does get here, I'll be happy. I haven't ordered anything for it yet, lol.

Out of curiosity only, I did some research on the Afro esc's (which is what I was going to get until Lee mentioned timing issues). True enough, there are a lot of people out there that are really complaining about having timing issues with these esc's and high pole count motors. That's a real shame because HK has a great bundle package (4 motors, 4 esc's) for a reasonable price.

I think I'm going to get the KISS esc's. The price is a bit high but people are talking very highly about them and I like the compact size. So...KISS esc's, Acro Naze32, Spektrum rx, 5.8ghz FPV....just need to decide on the motors now.....

There are some reasonable motors out there Derek, it depends what you want to achieve.
At beginner level 1804 or 1806 Emax seem to be pretty good value for money.
If you want to up the quality and power a bit, SunnySky 2204 are a step up and not too much more expensive.
I am using ZMR 1804 2400kv and they are ok but I am now finding I would like a little more power.
There are plenty of more powerful (and more expensive) motors out there but I figure when you get to the stage of wanting all that, it may also be time for a better everything else too.
I will at some stage build a whole new quad with the best gear I can not afford.

To be honest, I was thinking about getting the SunnySky 2204 motor because I can get them from BuddyRC, which is based in the state directly to the east of me. They are only about 5 hours away. I'm surely not gonna drive there, lol, but the shipping times, from BuddyRC, have been very short on previous orders.

Those sunnysky's will also run on 4s, doesn't say in the specs but people have been flying them with success.

As far as the esc's...I only need one esc with a bec and the other 3 without...is that right?

yep, you can remove the Positive leads from the other three.

oooooooooooo, I just checked on the tracking number of my quad....it's in transit to JFK Airport. I have a suggestion for them....since they are pretty much going to fly over my house to get to JFK...why not just put a parachute on my package and toss it out the window as they fly over, lol. Just a thought

well....China is to the west of me, JFK is to the east of me.

Unless, the package leaves China and flies to the east, then it would fly over Europe and then to JFK and not fly over my house (and NO Lee...they aren't going to drop my quad at your house either, lol)

I just checked on the tracking number and it's still showing "In Transit to JFK". I ordered the mini quad 8 days ago. If anyone is near JFK, please contact them and tell them to find my quad and hurry up, lol.

No, I haven't ordered the electronics yet. I have an agreement with my wife to wait until we get our income tax return. We e-filed them last week, as we always do. I should have the return next week.

I do have my electronics picked out.

Acro Naze32
4 - Sunnysky 2204-2300kv motors
4 - Velotech 12 amp esc SimonK Firmware

I did find a locator buzzer at HK. I'll order that and some extra LED's. As for the FPV, ReadyMadeRc has a "Custom Build" package. I've gone through it a few times and I like what they have to offer.

Going back to the above post about only one of the four esc's having an internal bec.

The one esc that has the active bec.....does it matter which channel of the rx it's in?

It does not go to the rx, it goes to the FC.
The rx gets it's power from the FC.
