Looking for my new build

Post by KevG »

Well I like this quad stuff it has to be said, so I think I want a bigger ship for doing a bit of video work, personal that is, just cruising having fun,

So the choices,

TBS Discovery arf kit, with Naza lite, but from what I have read many times it's hard to get rid of the jello,

Then there is the Dart 400 or the QAV 400,

now these two have very much caught my interest, either will be kitted with Sunnysky 2212 980kv and Emax 20a BHeli esc's flight controller will be Naza lite with V2 firmware, and powered by a 2200 4s 35c Zippy compact,

So guys what's your thoughts,

Oh a btw I have a wanted ad up for a QAV 400 on another site, so fingers crossed,

Ive looked at the same quads if money wasnt an isssue then id go with the qav 400 but i think for value for money the disco is a cracking price.

Are you thinking of long range video and radio?

Nah tbh to go long range none of these will do, can't get enough power on them, need BIG batteries

My thoughts were for the TBS but reviews saying about the jello puts me off, and they recon it's down to the DJI arms

I am very much leaning towards the Dart at the moment it's about 20% lighter than the qav and at a quarter of the price meaning the worry for a ding is not so much,

there s carbon arm upgrade for the disco http://www.quadcopters.co.uk/aerialmob- ... 1383-p.asp. If you didn't want to run it as an extension kit the carbon tubes could be cut down to suit.

If you were to go down the carbon arm route it would be better to buy everything separate.

Had looked at that it just stacks the cost up, to get the best out of the TBS you have to go 4000 4s

Qav or dart can both do 8mins on a 2200 4s and at a third the price

Yeah from my mini quad experience a quad that size needs at lease 4s, 5s would be an absolute blast.

The reason i was asking about the long range gear is that these can cover a lot of ground quickly, i was thinking in more of a piece of mind thing rather than flying it 20+ miles.
