Post by KevG »

Well they have released the price of the goblin 380 to be $395 or £295 so guys who's gonna be the first to sink £750 min for good spec into one of these or $1100 ish I knew it was not going to be to cheap but come on you can get a 550 Rex for that,

Wow, that's a lot of cash for the size of it. I'd rather have the 550 thanks :D

Wow that's too rich for me at the moment, I could build 2 extreme flight 50" 3d planes for that sort of money. So it looks like I'll be sticking with my 550 for now.

$1100 with electronics and battery? That's with crazy spec, top end gear. Should be able to do this for $700-800 all up without much trouble, $600-700 if you scrimp a bit. Still a chunk of change, but this is a true 380, more or less comparable in size to a traditional 450. Pricing seems a little high, but reasonable given the quality and performance potential one would expect from a Gob.

And how's the pricing compare to a Warp 360, amain has those kits going for $399, including a motor. So The gob is a little more expensive, but not much. It is a little larger, has the full wrap around canopy and CF boom typical of Goblins. Given it is new and in pre-order, pricing is going to be at a premium compared to the Warp which has been out for some time already. Seems all perfectly reasonable to me.

Will I be getting one?

Maybe, if Santa is nice to me this year. :)

I may be waiting until Spring and instead opting to pick up a new Blade 180 for the winter for some indoor flying.

Yeah but Paul, no one is gonna want one of these and not put BK or MKS servos on it and a decent castle esc and the motor is gonna be $150 on its own then fbl, can't see people kitting this out for 200 - 300 for the elects,

Is Cam replacing the Protos with this goblin 380 then,

Hey Graham I still see it a fair bit over the £500+ mark though, that is as I said before you don't go low end and give this heli what it needs to come alive

Yeah if I could have found one for the price of my Trex when I bought that I would have had the Protos, but now I have the brain on the Trex I just need airtime to get it dialled in perfect,

Sell ya my protos mini; lol. Naw I think I will sink the money into it soon, I think.

As for the gobby, well yeah its expensive did you expect it to be cheap! I knew it was gowing to be close to $300 for the airframe but was not expecting it to be close to $400.

With the Goblin being 380 and bigger than a 450 I think there is going to a bunch of reclassing.

Yeah Derek my thoughts exactly

Uri, I knew it was not going to be cheap, but to do it justice you could spend the equivalent of a 550 dominator super combo

And as for reclassing Aling are diff from SAB who are diff from Gaui who are diff from mikado, who's right where is the common classification

Hitec does some nice servos and usually come in cheaper. Savox are fine too. ESC, depending on motor requirements I would expect this to only need 75A and probably a lite model. Motors will be tough. Not sure there will be a lot out there for 6S at this size range. Could maybe opt for a high strung 4S setup instead and save some money, especially if you aren't crazy into the smack or trying to make it into a mini speed demon. Vortex, 7200BX, and some other decent FBLs without breaking the bank. And there are cheaper options besides those that may well be fine for 80% of pilots out there.

Just saying there are options that can get it in the air without sacrificing much for most pilots.

That said. Yeah. Even though I wouldn't have the skill to utilize it. I'd kit this thing out with BKs probably. Edge 75 lite ESC. I have some FBLs here to try on it, or I might opt to try out the Vortex, just to give it a go. I'd have to research motor options. I'd likely stick with a Quantum or maybe spring for a KDE. X-Nova possibly. Not buying Kontronic. Ever. I drewl at their stuff, but can not justify the prices.
