Ok....my HK "Discovery Buzzers" have arrived. My mini quad is now complete. I said "buzzers" (plural) because I ordered 3 of them, lol. One for the mini quad and the other two for "just in case".

Nope....maiden flight video will be posted today. Just waiting on the battery to get topped off from Storage Charge. I don't have anyone here to run the camera for me so I"ll just put the camera on a chair or something, lol.

Lol... With the iPhone mounted.. It feels soooo heavy... But it does a great job keeping the bird in frame... Honestly.. Better than if someone where holding a camera... Quick pitch pumps & maneuvers seem to stay in frame well.. It works!

Early Springtime weather is just no fun. Rain, rain, rain, rain....and guess what....more rain. The forecast says that the rain will be "lesser" this afternoon. Perhaps I can get out and get a bit of flying done today. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Derek's HK Dart 250 FPV Mini Quad

lol, we've got wind gusts at about 20mph and against my better judgement, I was just out with my quad. I played around a bit in Angle Mode....that was pretty cool! I flipped to Horizon Mode and I liked how the quad was behaving. I flipped to Manual Mode and I was really having some fun. I did do some adjusting to get it to hover level and in one place (as much as the nasty winds would allow me, lol). I did some hard punchouts and, to my eyes, it looked very solid. The props all sounded very smooth. After about 3 minutes, I set the quad down with no damage and an honest smile on my face.

However, I was disappointed to see that after only about 3 minutes of playing around, my 3S 1550 pack went from 12.6v to 11.2v. Let's see if you guys can help me out here. I have the SunnySky 2207 2100kv motors with HQ 5x4 props. Do I need to change motors or change props?

Just with the bit of flying that I was doing, the battery came down slightly warm and the motors were very slightly warm. It's a brisk day today so my hands are a bit chilly but I could feel the "slight" warmth from the motors and battery.

Any thoughts?

Props Derek:) The angle varies quite a bit and it can put strain on the motors:)

I sure hope the batteries last longer with the 5x3 props. I was just looking over some other people's videos that have the same Dart 250, and some other 250 class quads. Everyone seems to be running 2300-2400kv motors with their 5x3 props. Did I screw up by buying the 2100kv motors?

Most people running 2100kv motors are running 6" props and 4s.
Those are some pretty powerful motors you have there and are not normally what a beginner would put on their quad.
They should still give a reasonable flight time.
Was that 11.2 under load?
My low voltage warning is set at 10.5 but that is under load and I can get it to start go off in less than 2 minutes if I am flying hard or closer to 7 if I am flying like a Granny.

So, it sounds like I screwed up by buying these motors. My quad frame absolutely will now allow 6" props.

The 11.2v was what my LVM showed after I landed....and that wasn't even with the video system powered up. I have a separate JST plug for that.

These mini quad are so popular right now, it's very difficult to find a supplier that has motors in stock. I was just looking at the MultiRotorSuperStore and they have some Cobra 2204 2300kv motors in stock. Would these better suit my Dart 250, instead of my 2207 2100kv motors? Remember, my quad will not allow 6" props. The props would hit the anodized uprights on the "clean" part of the frame.

i would think they would be good to go with the 5x3 props is what i have i got the 2300kv motors with the 5x3's and they clear the frame by about a 1/4" but my quad is a 230mm frame which i don't is really to much smaller then yours
