My son Jacob wanted to spend some time at the local skate park and I knew there was a bunch of trees there that had potential as a flying site so off we went.
It was a fun place to fly but too many people for a regular flying site.

Yeah, it would be much nicer if there was less people.
I just wasn't confident getting any serious speed going as I was worried about being surprised by someone walking through.

Wait until the next one is finished editing and uploading, we set up a course and had a ball.

Set up an FPV course on a bit of vacant land next to the Otaika sports park in Whangarei, New Zealand.
Some arrows cut from coreflute, a bit of barrier tape and some pool noodles and off we went.
We changed the course a little after the first few laps and moved ourselves out of the sun. This was so much fun.
We didn't actually race but I managed a few laps behind Rob before he parked in a tree.
I never realized until I crashed, that he was no longer in front of me. I just kept going harder and harder until the inevitable happened.
The first half was a bit erratic but by the 10th battery things were starting to gel a bit.
This is basically 10 batteries condensed to 10 minutes.

I think equipment wise Dan would have a bit of an advantage.
The speed that his skill is developing could be an issue too.

Perhaps it is time to think about developing a few standard courses that will fit on a football field and do a video league.

Could use a camera with a live time stamp at the start finish line to record times.
Standing start, best lap of 3 or best time for 3 laps with a standing start... hmm.

We would need some cheap obstacles so that everyone can afford the same setup.
Just poles and noodle hoops I am thinking.

I got out my Hobbyzone Champ on the weekend just for a bit of fun.
I wish I had my camera on, I ended up with about 20 swallows playing follow the leader.
Everywhere I went, they went, I don't know whether they were just playing or actually trying to scare me off.
I got out the camera to try again but only 3 came back.
I'm gonna try again this weekend if the weather allows.
Or maybe I will give Jacob the Tx and see how he goes.
