Hey everyone. I was thinking about getting a cheap FPV RTF quadcopter just to have to play around the yard. I don't want to spend too much money on one. I'm more into my helis but I would like to own one. Maybe I'll teach the wife how to fly one, Lol, will see. I was looking at WLtoys V686G quadcopter for starts. I asked a member "Derek" his opinion, thanks Derek and i would like to ask the other members for there opinion on a cheap FPV. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

A kit like that will surely get you off the ground. For the price, I can't imagine the range would be very much...but it would get you around. It would be an inexpensive "start" to FPV quads. I'd just concerned about getting spare parts, if/when needed.

Now...the Ominus....that's a fun lil quad. I don't own one but I've flown it at my local hobby shop. Very cool little quad. It's a zippy lil sucker!!! I had fun with it.

Well for my first time you think the Ominus is more forgiving and design better then the V686G since you had the chance to fly the Ominus. I've seen some videos and they talk about a delay? Can you please explain that to me when it comes to FPV? Is it like simulcast? Thanks again.

Well....the delay that they are talking about is because the video system isn't like what I have, nor is it like what Lee, Tony, Graham, and Dan have. The FPV on the Ominus is via WiFi from the FPV cam on the quad to your smartphone. There are reports that there is a delay in the video. For example, if you were to fly the quad over 10 squares on the sidewalk...you quad would be over square 6 but the view that you'd see on your phone would have the quad over square 4 or 5. This is all depending on how fast you are flying, how close you are to metal objects around you, and such.

Seriously though....if you were to get the Ominus and fly it around your yard or a local park, I think you'll have a blast with it. The first experiences will surely be nerve wracking, but with practice, the experience will get easier. Just pace yourself and don't fly too far out. I would have no idea as to what the "too far" distance would be with Wifi so that would probably be best tested at a local park or a nice open field.

See, that's where i have a problem with. The WiFi in our area is not so good. I had to change all my surveillance camera from wireless to wired for that reason. The delay.... well I'm not to sure about that. Basically you get what you pay fore. The systems that you all have is way to much for my budget. I think i will stay with the helis for the time being. They rattle my brain enough to make me think but not enough to make me stop flying. I need to educate my self a little more about this FPV before i go shopping.

My suggestion is this....check out Youtube for as many videos on the Ominus as you can. Listen to what people have to say about it. Check with your local hobby shop. See if they have one or if they can get one. Maybe see if they'll let you fly it or have them fly it and you see how it works.

Then make your decision from there!

Thanks Derek and members. The more i dig around and watch videos checked out prices on equipment and so on.... I decided that this D.O.G. is staying on the porch while the other Dogs "Derek,Lee,Tony,Graham,Dan..." go out and play! Lol. I'll stick to helis.

In all honesty, I probably should have stayed "on the porch", too, lol. I don't even know how much I have in my quad and system.

Yeah buddy! Plus i want to keep peace with the wife. Shes' been a good sport letting me enjoy this hobby. I don't want to spoil a good thing, if you know what i mean.
