I'll have a look at sketchup tomorrow looks an interesting piece of software
Yeah that was the starting point, I intend to shrink it as much as I can until 9" props only just fit.
I have plenty of wood so there may be a few revisions.

Sketchup has a bit of a learning curve but it's free and there is online tutorials. :)

I've pulled the trigger on the carbon fiber sheet for the top and bottom plates. I've gone with some very sexy 2.5 mm matt 3k carbon sheet to match the matt 3k carbon tube.
I thought 3mm sheet would be extreme overkill and that 2.5mm would defiantly have the rigidity and durability that I'm looking for.

I'm hoping that the tubes with 2 mm walls and 2.5mm sheet combined with the alloy tube clamps give the airframe zero flex.

Thoughts/concerns all ways welcome.

after a lot of trawling the net i found dimensions for the tube clamps and motor mounts.

Ive had my crayons out this morning and done the first scale drawing, ive made a few revisions to the dimensions which stand it at a 326mm and able to use 6" or 7" props

The footprint for the bottom plate is 60mm x 240mm which will give more than enough room for the electronics and fpv gear.

another 2 drawings to go.

I've was sorting through my batteries earlier and found a couple of 2250 35c 6s packs, hmmm.

And looking at the drawings I may be able to squeeze 8" props on.

Haha ha, this project is turning into something insane

Thanks derek, I want to show people the thought process, this is a true scratch build rather than from plans.
My thinking with 6s is zero bog rather than unusable power. I've found some sunnysky's around 1250 kv (i havent got the specs to hand) that would be sweet on 5s and 6s, if they don't fry lol.

funny you should say that, not goblin motors. what about 3d fixed wing motors they will fit the mounts and generate enough thrust to compensate for there weight.

maybe something like this http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/st ... duct=25078

by my guestimation 4s with 7045's would give at least a 1kg of thrust.

Such a cool project! It looks like you can still scratch build a quad to your specs and preferences to less than or close to a high end frame. You can always find something you don't like with the expensive frames.

They look like beefy motors! I was looking at some SunnySky 1450kv motors, so it would seem that we're both thinking alike, lol.
