Timing question.

Post by DOG »

Hey everybody, my Tarot 450 has 45amp yep and 3s 3600KV motor which my timing is at 18 with the programming card. Now my Gaui X3 has 60amp yep 6s 1800KV motor. Will my timing be the same as the Tarot "18" or higher? According to the specs on the motor, the timing is 5 degrees. So what should my timing be set at or is there some method to figure out the timing on each motor. I can use the help please, thanks.

I run mine at 12 on the 450... Similar setup on the 3s... Not sure on a 6s motor... It can vary.. Watch motor temp while u expiememt with it.

The information i dug up is that 12 and down is in runner motors and 18 and up is out runner motors. I'm not sure if this is true but both of my motors are out runners. So i take it if my 450 is 18 should my timing be 24 or 30?

Your timing should be set to the motor spec. My 2221-8 is set at 5° per scorpion. So set to spec.

Ok then mine is 5 degree also. So i take it that i round up? My Yep timing reads, 0/6/12/18/24/30 degrees.

Some of the Chinese motors that I use don't specify a timing number. How do I find out what that number is?

here's the formula to determine PWM
PWM = KV x Voltage x Poles / 20
Soo.. my Align 450MX 3400kv looks like this
PWM=3400 x 11.1 x 6 / 20 = 11322 which is about 11-12 KHz

Derek,

Trial and error. If its am hk-#### motor then it more than likely is a scorpion clone. If that's the case start at 5°. You should see a difference in motor power. The more power you feel the closer to being right you are. If it feels weak then it might be off.
