Also if you bring couple of cans of compressed air that you use to blow your electronics off will work great to keep dust, dirt and any other stuff you might encounter.

I dont have a video camera, it tilt over cause the swash plate was not straight, when i gave it throttle it went straight up, when i gave it mid stick it went down fast then i gave pos stick and back down again, and gave it a rough landing, when i went to take off again I striped the main gear again, which i dont have anymore, i take off in short grass and level. the gear striped today.

Is it me? Or is the pinion helical? With a straight gear?

It's kinda hard to be certain, based on the picture.....but......it sure does look like a helical (slant toothed) pinion and a straight toothed main gear.

If that's what it is Dustin.. You'll need to match the pinion & the gear.. Let us know.

Definately looks like helical pinion...it's a simple mistake with a simple cure Dustin.... Just buy some new helical main gear

I'm sure it's fine Dustin.... what bird are we work'n with here.. Blade 450 right.. Go to the Blade website, find replacement parts section for your bird... There you will find the correct pinion & main gear that you need... I'd post a link but I'm not sure which blade 450 you have... But you want to make sure they match up or you'll just keep strip'd gears.. I'm actually suprised it was airborne.. Let us know if you can't find the correct match.

I think it has to do with getting a better grip, between the pinion and the main gear. Although, for simple sport flying and hovering, either the helical or straight gears will work.

Please be sure to use the appropriate main gear/pinion. If you have a helical main gear, you'll need the helical pinion. If you have a straight toothed gear, you'll need the straight toothed pinion.

Helical gears make less noise (aka whine) and generally are stronger due to the increased mesh contact. Downside, the slanted mesh results in axial thrusts which can result in wearing of radial bearings in both the motor and main shaft support bearings. Nothing to worry about really, since we tend to crash long before the bearing wear is an issue. :)

I suggest putting your training gear back on the helicopter. It will give you a larger footprint. Just be real sure that your "appropriate" pinion meshes well with the main gear. Double check that your tail belt is tight-ish. Double check your cg....then check it again.

Then....as Paul has mentioned above....when you are spooling the helicopter up...go ahead and spool up the head and when you see that the helicopter is getting light on the skids...go ahead and give it a bit of a *POP* to get the helicopter off the ground and out of the "ground effect".

You might even want to share with us what your pitch and throttle curves are, as well as dual rates.

I wish you the best of luck!!!
