Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
thanks Lee.
the mounts are a bit on the large side, i couldn't find any others that would fit the clamps and were carbon fiber.
I planned on getting the motors wired too the esc's this afternoon, so ive run all the motor wires down the booms, so i turned my soldering iron on and it never got hot
so i messed around installing the flip32 and starting to look at the wiring loom, i hate this bit.

Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
I've made some good progress tonight. Sorry no pictures, main battery loom made up, esc's flashed and calibrated, vbat working, rssi working backwards lol, motors turning in right direction, radio setup, gps configured it needs connecting to the fc. Pretty much RTF LOS with a bit of thread lock and some props.
Props and osd should be here in the morning. If the props arrive tomorrow I could be looking at LOS maiden this weekend.

Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
LOL, just had a major set back. i was trying to get the gps communicating with the naze (hanging the quad out the window) and dropped the quad snapping the usb port off, the solder pads came off the board with the fitting so i cant solder it back together
The frame didnt fall out of the window, just wacked me in the knee. ouch, it weighs a tonne.
ive ordered a new flip32+ but it wont br there until thurs/fri
the plus side is i have a free day tomorrow and porket is ready to go......

Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
My sony 600tlv mini camera arrived today, ive installed it and wired to the osd and vtx and im not getting any signal to my goggles. ive tryed with and without the osd and on all fatshark channels and still nothing. ive wired the camera to the vtx in porket and the camera works fine. so tomorrow when i have a bit more time im going to pull the vtx from porket and plug it into the wiring on the bodge copter and see what happens, i think that the bodge copter vtx may be a DOA ]
If the vtx is a DOA i will be ordering on of those 600mw vtx that graham found on banggood

I just watched the video, Dan! The quad is looking great! Much cleaner than mine, lol. I hope your new parts arrive quickly.

Thanks Derek.
Turns out the vtx is fine its something to do with the camera and osd grounds. I've got osd without the video plugged in and when the camera is plugged in I have live vid but no osd. It's starting to get a bit confusing with all these wires.

Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
Dan the VTX i got needs an adapter(Male/male) as it is female end and female anntena.
This confused me as in my line of work the "female" reference is always the "hole" end and male is the "Pin" end, for obvious reasons:)

Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
Ive very nearly finished it, osd is on and working, the new flip arrived and has been installed and sort of set up, i need to sort the scaling out for vbat and rssi and fit some led's.
because she was in a flyable state a chucked a 1000mah 4S pack on her back and hopped her you the video including OSD flight test are located here http://rc-hangout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=1066
She's come out a lot heavier than i thought.

I've got a couple of things to sort out today, the rssi isn't working correctly at the moment (stuck on 88%), install a neo pixel stick and configure and I think the battery read out is off a bit. Other than those few bits it's pretty much done.

Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
ive started to work on a mounting bracket for the gps module to free up some more space on the top of the frame for batteries.
the plan is to make this out of ABS plastic and mount the GPS over the mobius. which frees up around 40mm of space on the top plate.

Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
Thanks guys.
ive been doing some battery usage testing today, ive done a 2 min LOS flight, floating around and loads of punch outs on a freshly charged 5s 5000mah pack.
After the flight ive recharged the pack and put back 542mah so by my calculations that gives me a flight time of around 14m30s using 80% of the pack.
So i think for its fpv maiden im going to set the timer on my tx for 10 minutes and monitor the voltage through the OSD (mah used needs to be calibrated in the osd firmware).
Im hoping that the data from the first flight will help me calculate the mah used offset for the osd, so that the mah used displayed on the osd is more accurate.
