Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
Ive just pulled the trigger on a couple of packs for this bird a tad smaller as these 5000mah that weigh about 650g each. Ive order 2 zippy compact 2700mah 35c 5s packs to see how she is with them there is a weight reduction of around 300g the quad is already agile and has loads of thrush, easily as much as porket has, so it should be insane when its been on a diet and still have good flight times (7mins ish).
Ive found that 7" props arn't that easy to get hold of as i first thought so ive ordered 4 pairs of 8x4.5 abs props that im going to cut down bullnose style. lol

Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
Batteries arrived yesterday, and I've soldered them today.
I have also flash the flip with CF rc 1.9 and the Afros with blheli 14 I've put it all back together hoping to FPV it tomorrow weather permitting. I'm so excited.

Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
my 8x4.5 props showed up today, so ive made a jig out of some scrap carbon fiber and a prop shaft from an old motor, clamped it in my drill press and cut them down to 7x4.5

Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
if been having issues with my gps and rf interference and in my quest to solve the issue have come across a few things one of them is a gps sheild/groundplane.
A new spoiler kev. Or is it a front splitter??? The groundplane is made from pcb and then its soldered together i found the plans for it here http://autoquad.org/wiki/wiki/configuri ... oundplane/ it works by blocking radio frequency's, if the ground from the gps antenna is connected to the groundplane it also increases the gain of the antenna by about 5-6db, mine has given me a gain increase of 5.4db, while ive been monitoring the gps software with the groundplane attached ive noticed that coldstart 3d lock times have halfed and that its getting lock on about a 3rd more sats.
The cause of the interference is the mobius and once it is in position on the aircraft and recording i was getting total loss of gps signal with the groundplane attached i am loosing about half my signal but im retaining a good 3d lock, this is a step in the right direction.
So in order to try to reduce interference as much as possible ive ordered some conductive graphite paint and am going to give the mobius a thin coat on the inside of the case effectively making a Faraday cage and hope that this helps some more

I saw on the 350QX, they had a similar issue with Gopros.
They solved it by putting silver foil tape on the inside of the plastic case.
Maybe you could line the mobius case inside with silver tape?
Or get a runcam. They seem to have very low RF noise according to Bruce on RCMR

I didn't think this build was going to turn this technical. Lol
I've had a look at lining the mobius case but there's not enough room, I did see Bruce test the run cam and the reason it's got a low RF noise is because it's painted with conductive copper paint so I'm hoping the graphite paint has the same effectLee wrote:I saw on the 350QX, they had a similar issue with Gopros.

Re: Dans 300mm bodge-copter (revised to 326mm)
the Graphite paint arrived this morning so ive torn down the mobius and given the inside of the case a coat of paint, ive not had chance to do any testing to see how effective the graphite paint has been.
