My story is very important to me, so of course I had to take it with me when we started this grand endeavor! Yes, it's sort of strange to compress 53 pages down to 4, but the remaining 49 are mostly comments.Tony wrote:Wow, nice to see them back Marius, bet your pleased, thought there was more though...Marius wrote:That's all of the old posts. I can't lie and say it's only bliss, Derek. The little guy is keeping his old man very busy indeed But I love him anyway Thanks.Derek wrote:Marius...you've been quite busy getting your video diary around! Very cool! I remember seeing a bunch of these videos.
I remember the picture of little Oliver's hand on your tx. Very cool picture! How is the little man doing? I hope all is well for you and the family!!!
Thanks, Dandanhampson wrote:thanks for copying your diary over here, ive fixed all the youtube links.

No, not that I could find. I edited the old post, copied it, then pasted it onto the new thread.Lee wrote:Was there an easy way to copy it all Marius?

I don't know if I'll redo it quite to this level, but I'll start one up and do a recap of the past 2ish years.

I have to admit Marius you learned real quick how to handle the sticks. Not many people can progress as fast as you did. So for all those who want to learn don't think its going to happen over night like it did for this guy.
This is a great thread to follow from the beginning.

Re: Marius' learning to fly - "video diary"
On page 1 of this thread you put together an align dfc head, I've just bought one of these which came today, question. What did you finally decide on when you said ithe arms were very stiff.. Did you leave it with the new dampeners in.. They don't supply thrust bearings either in that kit which I didn't know, so I have those to order now. Not cheap either.. Thanks bud

Re: Marius' learning to fly - "video diary"
I was initially supposed to change out the stock dampeners back then, but never got around to it. In hindsight I believe it wouldn't have mattered much. Just use the stock dampeners. If you feel the birds handling becoming a bit too sharp, you can just compensate in the FBL setup.Tony wrote:On page 1 of this thread you put together an align dfc head, I've just bought one of these which came today, question. Re: Marius' learning to fly - "video diary"
When I last posted a video in this thread I was flying behind a school near here. At the location there is a large puddle. For those who has seen the video, I am having a lot of fun with said puddle.
What I haven't told though, is that one week later I returned to the same place - no video, sorry. But this time I had a bit too much fun. I found that if I dipped my skids deep enough, the tail rotor would touch the water surface, making a cool sound and a good spray of water. Sadly, I did this one time too many. Water got into the ESC and the heli caught fire, mid air!
Anyways. I got away from the episode with just a busted ESC and a slightly scorched heli.
So the 11th of January I was back in business and flew my first flights of 2015
Today I thought I'd swing down to the nearest soccer field which has flood lights (it gets dark here pretty early on during winter)(and yes, it's the same soccer field which I have flown at before with the Agile in floodlighting). Today though I put the night blades on my 500, seeing that I occasionally fly out of the lit up area. AND BOY AM I GLAD I PUT THOSE ON - have a look
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qfv3PID ... UrhEZ2T5WQ
Yup. The lights were shut off in the middle of my flight! Even though I couldn't see the tail, I was able to land safely. BUT WAIT, there is more: Seeing that this soccer field was shut down for the night I drove down to another field. At least here I was able to fly nearly two packs before the exact same thing happened again!! Was able to land safely again
What have I learned from this? My field closes at 9 PM, and the other one at 9.30 PM

HAHAHA that was lucky you landed on both occasions mate. It looked scary from a video point of view.
Was it that dark in real life?
