Thanks Tony, I am having so much fun with my 2 quads, not touched a heli in ages, was actually thinking of maybe selling the 500, but I'm just not sure I should,

Quads are certainly great fun Kev, I've learnt more with the quad than I ever dared to with the heli. But I'd still love one... One day...

After a bit of tampering here's the other videos I could cobble together,

http://youtu.be/YJgxNkMC1VQ

A couple of good crashes in this one, :D

http://youtu.be/s_x4DvLKxGs

Even after that dumb thumb, it was a quick check of the quad, nothing broke so took back of and finished the battery, which was the sort video I posted the other day.

Doing well in such a short time Kev.
I have a few suggestions, take them or leave them is up to you.

Switch to Acro
It is so much easier to maintain constant altitude once you do.
You have the perfect spot to practice, I would suggest gaining some altitude for a start and follow that running track around and around, slowly getting lower as you do.
Be ready to hit self level in a panic if you have to but switch to Acro sooner rather than later.
What you are doing now is learning habits that you will have to break when you switch.
Ask anyone else and they will say the same thing, "I should have done it much sooner".

As far as the hoop is concerned, your approach is critical, you need to be at the right height long before you reach it.
Again, much easier to do once you get the hang of Acro.
I would suggest putting it up with a lot more approach distance.

Once you have switched, you will wonder why you waited so long. :)

Thanks Stambo,

Yeah was looking at acro just wanted to get my FPV confidence up first, only done <10 batteries with the Gravity and feeling I'm getting better so will look at it soon I think.

Yes the approach was what killed me a couple of times, but we are getting markers to follow so that will help with line up height wont be too bad once I get alignment sorted.

done a lot of laps of the track and we tend to race around there as well,

Defiantly a +1 to what Stambo said about acro, I found the stabilised modes felt like I was fighting the quad all the time, I think I did 4-5 flights stabilised and went over to acro and haven't looked back since.

Just remember to have plenty of props to have as you will put it in more until you get the hang of it.

+1 on Stambo :) I fly Acro all the time now and use Horizon as bail out on switch. Looking back i was doing the same for confidence, but all your really doing is constantly fighting the self level:)

Dude, ACRO!!
Looking at that video you are well ready, just do it. :)

Balloons, brilliant, why didn't I think of that.
I feel many props will be harmed in the future fight against the evil balloon.
Good will prevail and their sacrifice shall not be in vain. :) :)

Here you go All the first flight using Acro mode, it's not pretty by any means.

Have to say it's much faster flying in acro, and you always have to think,

I dunno Kev...I think you did real well for your first full flight in acro mode. It's definitely a different world but it's awesome fun. I've still not been daring enough to try a roll or a flip yet but the flights in acro mode are just awesome!!! Keep at it buddy! That was fun to watch!!!

Thanks Derek it felt like a bit of a roller coaster to me, but there we go,

Suffered from a lot of breakup in my video feed on that pitch think it was to do with the chain link fence around it acting like a faraday cage and multipathing my signal,

Great effort Kev:) I find the yaw turn is hard to do as its as if your back end slides away from you in Acro:)

Well done Kev, I knew you could do it but I didn't expect you to do that well.
The more you do it the better it gets.
You will notice the turns get even smoother as you fly more packs and get more used to it.
Graham Lawrie wrote:Great effort Kev:) I find the yaw turn is hard to do as its as if your back end slides away from you in Acro:)
Less yaw, more bank, yank and throttle if you want fast turns.
I have been watching the good guys and they bank heaps more than I do.
That's what makes their quads look like they are on rails.
If you hold your quad and simulate a yaw turn you will see there is nothing to stop it drifting out.
Most of the thrust is angled down.
Once you start to bank it a bit more, thrust counteracts the centrifugal force trying to throw it outwards.
I need to practice my fast turns too.
