DAL "unbreakable" props

Post by Lee »

Well I got a bunch of these props from Surveilzone.com
DAL 6040.
First the good points.
They have good power.
The rest I'm afraid is bad.
They a so badly balanced, to be almost impossible to fix.
I did a test on one, and had to cut off 2mm from one tip to balance it out
But the worst thing is, they a super brittle, and far from being indestructible.
They are so fragile, porcelain props would be more durable :D

So first flight went ok. no issues. liked the power.
But the second flight ended abruptly with one prop shedding both blades when it sheared at the root :o

I checked in the video, and playing frame by frame, you can see the blades flying off.

So first impressions are, not a good buy, even if they are cheap.

The one with no blades sheared in mid air. The other tow broke on impact from two feet up in a hover. :x

That's bad Lee, but got to be a bad batch you got, my mate has been running the 5040's and he has hit them and crashed them so many times, yes in the end they break but man I've seen them take a battering

some of the guys at the race meet yesterday where taking about these, and said that the 6" blades were rubbish but the 5" blades are ok and from what i saw theres no way they are indestructable as I saw multiple props get snapped, chipped ect yesterday. In fact my HQ 5040's seemed to far better than the DAL props

I would say so too Dan. I have both, and the HQs are a far better material.

According to Bruce on RCModel reviews, they are all bad.
His were exactly the same. Unfortunately, I had just ordered mine, before his video came out.
I will cut them down to 5040 Bull nose and trash them as fast as I can :D
