Syngergy is such a beefy design on the mechanics. Love it.

Did a little work on her last night.. Forgot to take photos.. So I took a few this morning.... But no matter anyhow.. I'll be taking more photos when I go back thru to thread lock & install electronics(which is gonna be awhile). Got the bearings mounted on the TT shaft, putting the ends on today as I was letting the green Loctite dry. Spacing is 270,260, & 270 per the manual. I was toying with the idea of ordering another bearing & using a total of three.. Decided I'd just go with the manual tho. I also epoxy'd the ends of the tail pushrod. I did the same trick I used with the N5C build. I mark by wrapping the rod where the edge of the end(CF side) is with regular tape.. Make a few rolls round it. The pull the end off and scuff it up with sandpaper and make a few cuts with a knife or scissors. Wrap the edge aluminum end with tape... Have both the CF & the aluminum wrapped keeps epoxy from getting on unwanted areas.. Clean build! The CF pushrod is hollow.. So air will push the ends off the pushrod.. So. Get one end epoxy'd up good and install end... Wipe excess epoxy of the tape & the remove the tape.. Leaves no messy epoxy.. Take some duct tape and secure it.. Repeat on the other end. Let dry over night. Time to break down the tail box!

There are better shots of the epoxy process in the N5C build thread "It Begins"...

Tail box, slider, & rotor is complete... Once again I did use my Q-Tip method for the spindle.. May need to add that to the "build tips" section.. I think it's a great method and haven't seen anyone use it before.. Maybe I can be a trend setter! Lol. I did dump the stock plastic lever on this bird, same as I did with the N5C. As I'm sure you've heard me say before.. I am not a fan of plastic unless it's necessary. We pay too much for these kits to have plastic.. My personal opinion.. I understand sacrificial parts.. Still don't dig plastic! The aluminum replacement came from Ralph at FBL Rotors... Good quality.. I wanna say I heard that KDE makes thes for him.. But don't quote me on that. The brass cup takes all the slop(not that there was a lot) out of this section mechanically. Now the stock ball that goes in the cup is a snug fit.. And as suggested by Ralph I did us a fine grit sand paper and took the diameter down a hair.. I do mean a hair. Put the ball in the drill, held the sand paper around the ball and spun it a few times... Butter smooth in the cup! Set screws in the shaft ends! I hear a lot of guys (especially coming off Align as they do use them this way) complain about loosing gear pins in flight... With birds of several manufacturers.. Synergy, Thunder Tiger, I believe Gaui.. They use a set screw to hold the gear pin in place.. If u don't thread lock it.. It'll back out and The gear will slip of the seat of the opposing gear/shaft. Always a good idea to double check that stuff.. Do use the manual! I'm guilty of just slap'n stuff together sometimes.. Especially with my Align birds... Bad practice... Just thought I'd note it. I do use red Locite on these sets screws as well. Move'n on!

While if home alone.. Music is a must! Loud too! Currently the selection today has been The Orb & The Clash. Good to take an occasional coffee break and eat some cheezy poofs from time to time too... Keeps the brain sharp! Nice to have Loctite & Boto Lube on ur fingers too.. Taste awesome when lick'n the cheezy dust of them digits! Lay'n here on the couch in the man cave.. Letting the bass wash over me is awesome.. Relaxing... Haven't enjoyed this in a long while. Can't crank up the 7.1 surround when honey bunny is home.. She doesn't like loud at all.. Or the feel of bass.. Or the broken glass that vibrates off shelves upstairs.. Lol.

Boom time! Got the holes drilled... To pin the tail in the front and back you have to drill your own... Which is good because the way Matt keeps the tail from being too long.. Say you had a E5... If u wanted to stretch it to run 600 blades u got the bigger boom & cut it.. This keeping all the extra length stick'n out the back unnecessarily... Kinda the same concept on the E7... If I go with 696/716 main blades and 106 tails I shuv the tail box all the way in... If I wanted to run 716 mains with 116 tails.. I keep the box shy about 4-6mm from all the way... This also co-insides with optional tail ratios.. Stock comes with a 4.9/1 ratio... U can opt for a different spur gear in the transmission to slow it to 4.5/1... Lots of options for set up on Synergy kits... Anyhow.. Drilled Both boom ends and assembled the tail. Boom supports I went with my usual KDE stuff.. Really really really dig their machine work & quality... Sized the pushrod links and installed all that.. Preliminary to installing tail servo of course.

Mounted the battery spear.. Lol.. Had to cut the motor shaft down a good bit.. Suppose I didn't really have to.. But the possibility of puncturing a 12s stick pack could not be allowed! So I covered the motor in a bag & taped it to keep debris from getting inside the motor.. Cut wheel in the Dremel did a quick job.. Chamfered edge nice & neat.. Tadaaa! Set the mesh.. Good to go.. I'll do the ESC tomorrow.. Solder the bullets & see how I wanna run the wires.. After that I'm done till I get all the servos.. Gonna use the same MKS that I have on the N5C.. But don't have them yet.. Need to make an order this week.

Thanks Graham! I believe I botched the build threads on my 450 & 550(back on RCH)... Told myself I'd do a better job next time... I am happy with the thread on the N5C as well as this one.. Helps me find errors.. Slows me so I don't make as many errors. And it's nice to be able to look back.. And if it helps someone along the way.. All the better. :D

Well... I can't seem to make up my mind.. Continuing to use a RX pack or wire it up for a BEC. I've never used a stand alone BEC.. With the exception of the BEC in the Edge50 on the Align 450.. I use RX packs on all the large birds. I've been debating this all day now... Need to make a decision and solder this up tonight.. Tired of looking at it with that "huh?" look on my face as if I was confused. Lol

Thanks again guys. Preliminary ESC mounting... Tried it upside down but didn't really like that.. This way seems better. Paul, did u cut ur motor wires short or leave them factory length? I'll end up making a roll with the motor wires & tie'n down.. Pretty long. The battery wires in this position seem just right.. Gonna marinate on this for a bit before I commit.
