Here's video of flights 2 and 3 (edited down a bit). Will be wrapping up this thread and posting future vids of this in my flight log thread.

If you guys with Gob 700's or experience around them can take a listen I'd appreciate it. In particular there is a point or two during the video where you can here almost a clicking or ratcheting sound. Don't know if a belt is jumping a sproket or maybe the tail belt is slapping the side of the boom. IT should be tight enough to not do it, but it's the only thing I can think of. Motor belt is tight so I'm doubting it's jumping.

My other Gob 700 (DFC head, V1/original model) does this too. Far more easily and pronounced.

In some flights I made Sunday I reduced the tail gain some more and governor gain a bit and that seemed to help it. Still hear it now and again, particularly on fast, high power big air loops (in the video you can hear it during those and you can hear it during some pitch climbs).

Noises at 3:35ish during the pitch climb. 4:30 during negative pitch push out. 5:57 also on the positive pitch climb (right at the end of it).

Paul that sounds like the same noise Cameron had when his belt was slack:) Also spin the blades by hand to watch the tracking of it on the splined pulley. On Camerons you could see the belt move on the pulley from one side to another indicating it was out of alignment:)

The tail belt as loosened a bit on the KSE so I'll tighten that one up and recenter it in the pully. The other G700 though is pretty damned tight. And I actually may have broke the tensioner spring when I was checking it a day or two ago. Need to break it apart and see if I can bend it back into place or if I need to get a new one. Sucks but I think I'd have to buy a whole new tensioner assembly to get just the spring.

Got two testing flights in today. No more noise on the fast backward loops and other moves, so I think either belt tension or main gear tightening did the trick there. Collar and gear stayed in place with no slop developing after some pretty hard collective and power maneuvers, purposely bad tic tocks, and hard stop rainbows (oh the blade farts). So think that issue is gone too.

Now to cut the canopy hole for the motor and start enjoying it a bit. :-)

Well, I finally cut the canopy...

I first did a test cut in an old cracked up Trex 700 canopy I had laying around. Just to figure out how to do the template and how best to start and run the cuts/grinds. That went well so I taped off the centerline of the goblin canopy as a guide, layed down tape to draw on, and then started slowly carving out circles using the template of the motor can I made and test fitting as I went.

My wife probably is not happy. Got to be quite noisy. I'm sure I'll hear about it in the morning...

Anyhoo...

I've got the hole large enough to get the canopy on and off now. The canopy settles a bit to the left (looking at it nose in) so the factory air cutout is off compared to the motor so I'm going to need to widen it a bit toward the right in order to get things looking right and not hitting the motor. I stopped for tonight just in case I'm punchy and not seeing something correctly, before I start grinding away on that. I may opt instead to go with an oversized circle template. The cutout will look lopsided since I'll have to skew it right vs centerline of the canopy, but it may be easier than trying to free hand draw a mirror (or make a template and mirror trace that).

I'll take some pics of what I have so far tomorrow, then a shot of the final cut result, and then with it rubber trimmed.

No paint chipping, which is nice. I was worried about that.

Finished trimming the hole at the club. Got the rubber edge protection on before I took photos, though. So you get the final result only! HA! Take that! :)

You'll see that the hole appears to be offset to the left. The motor wasn't lining up with the hole, I ended up having to shift it right compared to canopy center line. To make this look totally clean I would have ended up having to extend the stock cutout down and right even more and I just couldn't bring myself to do any more. So I put the grommet on there and called it done.

It's soon bi'ag!.. Lol.. Luckily I need no canopy mod on the E7SE... But it's close.. I think the mounting point of the Goblins is a good bit higher in the frame compared to most other designs.. But I do like the Goblin layout... Nice!
