Thanks guys, I'm trying to work on my precision more at the moment.
There a couple of nice spots in this park for tree dodging I'm going to try to get to this site once a week for some tree dodging fun

If there isn't you are not trying hard enough.
That is what I love about these mini quads.
The damage bill tends mostly to be single or low double digits. :)

As I mentioned earlier in this thread I'm looking at ways of improving my precision, so at the weekend I picked up 10 pool noodles to make a portable track to take to my local fields. Here what I came up with.

Good and reasonably safe way to improve your skills.
Pool noodles are softer than trees. :)
Similar to what we have, I need to do more of this once our weather improves a bit.
I felt that 2 noodles was a little small for a hoop, especially when there is sometimes 2 or 3 of us going through very close together, we use 3.

I agree about the 2 noodles being a bit small for racing, but as this is going to be done mostly on my own my train of thought was, smaller gap to improve precision.
I've done a rough image of the course that I'll upload for you to have a look at.

I have been meaning to get some noodles for a while now.
Now my Quads are up and running, I'll go buy some today.
The Chinese shops in town, sell them for £2 each :)

I have not tried them but apparently makes landing more difficult.
Don't forget to tell your FC that it has a tilt. :)

I've not done that yet, I've got to put -10 degrees on the roll axis as my fc is already set at 90 on the yaw axis. I'm hoping that I can get out over the next day or 2 to test them out.

FC is clever enough to figure it out, I would put your -10 on pitch still then just try it. :)

I'll probably turn the accelerometers back on and see what happens in software on the first screen then turn them back off for flight.

I got to fly the thug at drinkwater park on Sunday with the 10 degree motor mounts.
What a difference they seen to make flights flow better. Here's a short video of one of my hot laps. The last time I flew here i was getting consistent 15.5 second laps this time, well I'll let video do the talking.

thanks guys.

That setup is race legal at the track aswell lol 3s 5x4x3

I had a bit of an afro 30a BBQ on the last planned flight of the day, so rather that replace the afro on the quad (these werent intended to stay on this machine anyway) i ordered a set of little bee's 20a esc's these have silabs chips rather than atmel chips (something to do with faster processor and refresh rate)

specs are

Size: 24.5*12.5*3mm
Weight: 4g with wires
Signal Wire: 100mm
Continuous Current: 20A
Burst Current (10s) : 30A
No. of Lipo Battery Cells : 2-4Lipo
BEC output : None
USB link programmble : Yes
Mosfet : All N channel
PCB board : 4 layer blind pole board, 3 oz copper.

First impressions are that these things seriously rock, the pids for this flight were stock (you may not believe me when you watch the video) as i had just flashed the board with the latest boris b hex. I think boris has found a way to overcome physics itself.

quad setup

cobra 2204 2300's
little bee's 20a. blheli 14.1.0.3
flip32. Betaflight v2 (boris b's experimental fork), set dterm_cut_hz = 40 (recommended/stock), pidc 1 (rewrite)
hq 5x4x3's
1300mah 4s 50/100c

just though i should add a pic of camera mounting, nothing fancy just some hd foam and a couple if zip ties.
