Oy. Sorry for the crash. No auto-rotation bailout on there if you flipped back off of TH?

Even if i would have, I would not of had enough time for spool up again. When it happened I was fiddling with the switches to find the right one and position. This is a lack of use of the radio on part. Nothing to do with the radio itself. I also need to go into the governor and see what spool up rates i have in case a bail out is needed.

I do not have the upgrade for the self level bailout and I am not sure if auto bailout is a part of that upgrade.

So far I have gathered that the bail out switch is the motor stop/idel/run switch. I stated it like that because I dont know what switch your going to be using for that. This is a required switch in the VControl. So now I know how to use that switch I can now go through and ensure everything is setup correctly. I will need to double check the esc setup even though I know I have it set as per Vstabi.info. One thing I have found to be in conflict is in the castle link setup Vstabi.info says the autorotaion bailout needs to be unchecked and I have ready today that it needs to be checked. Once I solve this conflict I will get it programmed correctly and practice it while in a low hover. I need to get the repetitions down so its muscle memory and build confidence in hitting the switch.

Oh this is on VControl. Nice.

I think you can run either the Castle ESC auto-rotation bailout or the vbar one (assuming you're using vbar gov). I don't know if auto-rotation bailout is part of the standard app(s) or a pro-feature. I expect it is available on standard, but I do not recall offhand what setting/menu to control it from. Can look on it later tonight.

Careful testing auto-rotation bailout down low. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but if you're wanting to do an in-flight test, get a lot of height. That way if it doesn't spool up again, or is taking way too long, you still have enough height to attempt the normal auto-rotation landing. If you do it low you run the risk of it spooling up again when it is close to the ground which can be disaster (think tail spinning around due to fast spool up).

I'd recommend actually testing this all out on the bench first. Take the blades off and you should be able to test gov settings, auto-rotaiton bailout, full spool up reset, etc. in perfect safety. You can also test your hand positioning and switch handling to get used to it before doing a flight with it.

Here is the issue with that. One I am not all that versed in autos yet. Working them on the sim. Two it's a heavy 360 with 360 mm mains. This class does not auto well unless you are a god at autos. I have been doing eye level baby autos and that's about the limit for this frame and my skills. One issue is that head speed bleeds off quickly.

I also read that the auto bail out does not work on the bench. Now I do have to find out for myself.

Autos on 450 class heli are tough.. No doubt about it. I've only had a few go well from about 15ft or so... Usually as u said about eye level.. 6ft.. My personal findings anyhow. The Castle bailout is great tho... I only use the gov feature on Castle with the 450 as iKon is used for the rest of the fleet.

I am setup for the VBar Neo governor. I use the aux lead from the esc instead of the normal sensor. So I think the bail out is set in the Vbar.

I just dont see why You would even use a bail out on a 450 class heil . Like all of you have said a 450 class heli A auto is so short you dont have time to use a bail out

No personal experience autoing anything that small. But you should definitely be able to bench test the bailout. I do it on all my helis. Nothing I can see about vbar or vcontrol that would change that.

I read Nick Lenns tech tip on settings up Vbar gov. I don't know if that's a neo tip or older Vbar. He stated it didn't work on the bench.

On a 360/450 you really don't need a bailout but if you bump a switch you might need it. As I found out.

I know for a fact that it works on the bench/ground with the neo and vcontrol. I damn near tore the KSE I won apart because I didn't understand the bailout was already setup and flipped to idle after spooling up and then run without resetting to off. :-)

Lol... With any bailout... ESC or FBL unit.. Preliminary bench test.. Then do it again in the air.. Some say up high.. Some say low.. Either way, watch out... Once u bleed off a good bit of head speed... & activate the bailout.. That tail will kick!

Not only that the torque could cause gears to strip. If the head speed is that low you should be just letting it crash. It will be cheaper and safer in the long run.

Keep in mind, when in the air testing, at least initially there isn't a need to let it bleed off a ton of headspeed before kicking it back on. Idle than back to Run inside a second or two should be fine. Will give you enough time to know if there's trouble and reduce the chance of a major tail swing since it hopefully hasn't lost too much headspeed yet.

I'll keep that in mind when I go back out. I can get a gear set that has a replacement output shaft. So it's looking good.

Got parts????

Okay so I got all these parts but yet I still can't fly. So I will still need to get the servo gears for the gaui and blades for the 180cfx.
