As it stands right now, the ZMR quad is on the shelf. I'm spending some time and money on some home projects.

When I get back to the quad, I'm going to order new ESC's. When I was last testing the quad, number 4 motor still won't come on when it's connected to the quad but that same motor works when it's connected to one of my spare ESC's. All motors have tested fine and the other 3 ESC's tested fine.

Yeah, since I have 3 of them working, I think I'm gonna order a full set of 4 esc's and I'll use them....keeping the 3 as spares.

lol....I dunno if I can do that, Graham. It's hard enough to get one woman to understand this thought process. Thankfully my wife understands.

I'm sorry to say, but I think you are on your own with that dilemma.

OK, I think we are getting back on track here. I've got some cash to order new esc's for my ZMR. I have 4 Afro 20amp esc's, flashed with blheli. One of them is not working properly right now so, here are a couple of questions:

Do I order 4 new 20 amp Afro's and flash them, keeping the other 3 as spares?
OR
Do I order 4 new other brand esc's?

I think it was Kev that suggested that I get the DYS 20amp esc's. I see that readymaderc.com has 58 of these esc's in stock right now for $12.99 each and then I'd need a separate BEC or voltage step down regulator to supply the needed 5.0 volts.

What do you guys think?

Look for some LittleBee 20a.
Far superior to DYS as far as I am concerned.
You will also need a bec for them.

the XM series dys are better processor than the stock littlebees, look like a very good performer.

The older dys are not as good as the littlebees to that I agree Stambo

That's them Derek.
Don't know about the newer DYS, have not really researched them.
What I do know is when the Littlebees came out they were said to be as close to the Kiss ESC (supposedly the best available) you could get without breaking the bank. :)

ok guys...I was just about to order a set of Little Bee 20amp esc's but then I saw the Silabs USB Linker that is needed for upgrading multicopter ESCs with SiLabs chips to BLheli firmware (like FVT Little Bee ESC).

Here is the link for the Linker:

https://www.multirotorsuperstore.com/es ... inker.html

Now, my question is this...do I need this Silabs USB Linker? I have the Afro USB Programmer that I bought when I bought the Afro esc's. Will the Afro USB Programmer work with the Little Bees?

You don't need it Derek.
You can do it through the Naze32, all at once or one at a time.
You can reverse motors and everything else you would normally do through the linker.

Sounds good!

As for reversing the motors.....I didn't know that could be done through the Naze32. I'll have to research doing that.

I'll go order those Little Bees now.

I just looked at www.multirotorsuperstore.com and they don't have 4 in stock. Now I'm looking at www.readytoflyquads.com and it seems that they have 4 in stock. However, they have 20amp Little Bee esc's and 20amp Little Bee Pro esc's. The Pro esc's seem to have a faster processor and fatter wires. The Pro esc's are $2.50 more each. Should I go with the Pro esc's?

Not sure about the pro Derek.
When it comes right down to it though, how many of us have the skill level to know the difference? :)
