Wow. That frikin sucks.

What's next? Should still have some good electronics out of that to put into something new.

Have to agree with you on that!

Yeah it does considering I just rebuilt the damn thing 20 flights ago. Just glad my brand new gense ace packs survived the crash. They are only 5 flights old. Yeah most of the electronics seems good. One of the bk8001 servo's gears need replacing but I may just replace all 3 of the cyclic servos' gears just to be on the safe side. The neo and the current sensor will be moved onto the regular Goblin 700 of mine since that has been waiting for an fc. I will be looking at a new heli not 100% sure what yet just not a goblin. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love the sound, look and feel of the goblin helis but they are just too damn expensive crash wise.

So i'll be looking for a beater heli so to speak. Something that is tough, reasonably priced for the kit ,part cost as well as preferably local part supply. What that'll be? Not sure... In regards to local parts the only real heli that I can get parts for locally in Western Australia would have to be the logo. So maybe the new logo 700. Again it comes down to the price. I can obtain parts/kits for goblin, KDS, MSH, Align, Synergy, JR and Gaui from other areas in Australia if needed so I do have some choice.

If anyone has any recommendations in terms of what my next heli should be feel free to let me know :)

Well after some consideration, discussion and planning I just couldn't resist. The KSE will hopefully be rekitted sometime in the future but at this stage it looks like the KSE will rise again and this time I will be checking the boom after every flight since I do not want the same thing to happen again haha.

Maybe rough up the boom and side frame areas that contact each other to help generate some friction and keep things in place? Or some double sided tape (thin, normal masking tape kind)?

Thanks for the suggestions :) Will the keep that in mind when building this time. Was slightly considering using a thin layer of blue locitite around the outer edge of the boom where it touches the main frame. I don't care to much for the break away boom system at this point and if forced to would even consider using steel bolts with loctite instead of the nylon ones but we shall see.

For anyone wondering why i decided to rebuild I got in contact with SAB and they made me a very nice offer for new kit which is why I couldn't help my self :P So massive thumbs up to those guys!

Honestly, I've never seen the boom slide loose mid flight like that before. I've seen boom strikes in flight, but that's usually due to loose blades or extremely aggressive maneuvers. And the breakaway system has saved my goblin booms and frame sides on many occasions.

On the 700's there is an aluminum post inside the boom between those two points. Make sure those bolts are tight into the post. If you need to you can even hit the area under the washers there with some light dremel work to make a thin recess to help keep the bottom of the boom seated there. You don't want to go crazy. If you do stuff it, you do want that boom to be able to come loose or else you're likely to have to replace the boom and a frame side or two.

That is true. I ended up building the new kit as the same as before. Was extra careful this time around and will be checking it regularly and hopefully we shall see 400+ flights from this one :)

So had a good days worth of flying today. Logged a total of 11 flights without incident. Flew every heli in my fleet at least twice which was nice and even had two redneck flights :) The new KSE isn't even 10 flights old yet and I am already flying it at night with spot lights :P Here are a couple of photos from today:

Great pictures, Damon! I have to say, I sure do like the older Goblin color scheme with the red eyes. I think that is my favorite color scheme by them. I can't afford the Goblin line of heli's, but they sure do look good!!!

Looking good! Liked the side in inverted hovering. I'm no where near that comfortable with inverted hovering. Hat's off!

Haha thank you! :) Surprisingly I am only really comfortable doing it side on. My weakness is doing it nose in or tail in inverted hovering. Still need lots of practicing in those orientations.
