RCHN bites the dust...

Post by pvolcko »

http://www.rchelination.com/rchn-v-2-0- ... -come-end/

A most unfortunate day today for the heli hobby. RC Heli Nation is kaput.

Had a feeling this was coming.

They hadn't released an episode for a month or so, and they usually make a big deal out of the last episode of the year and the first of the next with their recap of predictions busted and making new predictions for the coming year. There was none of it. They were all but silent on FB in the weeks off too.

Bobby Watts and Bert Kammerer at SmacktalkRC have been putting out podcasts lately. With RCHN shutting down they may well have more reason than before to keep the effort going.

And as mentioned above there is freefall rc podcast http://www.freefallrcpodcast.com/ that may be worth a listen.

Anyone got any others that have significant heli content in them?

I know I am late to the game on this but yes it was a surprise to me. Yes the year end was a bit lack luster and when they added Saje i was thinking they were going to drop a co host. I didnt see room for a 5th host. At the time I was under the impression that Jessie or Dan was going to step down. Their lives were changing the most. Dan was on a healing spree with his arthritis and was doing a lot more outside of the rc world. Jessie was at a new job and having to travel more. Kayla was pregnant or had just delivered so he was just learning that 1500 flight a year doesn't happen with a family and full time job.

Justin and Saje are still active in the RC Heli world. There is a vlogger that has interviewed Justin and he made the claim that he and Saje are going to keep RCHN going through the annual funfly. In the latest trailer of RCHN I think I saw Dan and Jessie in the video or at least their signatures on the banner. At this point all I know is they all dropped the hobby completely except Justin who is still working on MSHFA .

I keep listening to all the episodes in hopes that it comes back.

Bert and Kyle started up a series of podcasts since this thread was active. Kind of took over from the Bert and Bobby smacktalk podcasts.

Don't think RCHN is going to come back. At least not for a while yet. Maybe in 5 or something years they crew will get together and get the itch again.

If it does come back It wont be the same. My prediction is that if it does I think It will be Justin and Saje. Then there is the whole branding thing that is owned by Dan and whether or not he sells the name to Justin or allows for royalties.

I should check out the new podcast and see if I can get into it.
