First time FPV flying

Post by DOG »

Hey everyone, before Christmas I've purchased FPV goggles and haven't try them out yet til today :o . I finally had the chance to fly today my QX 90c and Wow, now I know why everyone is getting into the FPV craze. It's diffidently too cool, different and can't wait to get the TBS Xracer at the end of the month :D . I'm still with Clay on this on; my helis are my first choice and FPV will be my second. :| Now I have to figure out how to transfer and record what I'm seeing to to video  Can someone point me in the right direction, please :?: Thanks!

If you are going to spend that much, look at the Fatshark Dominator v3.
They have a built in DVR, but you will need get a receiver for them.

I prefer to see with my eyes, my butt does...... other things. :P
When I got my Dom V3s I was disappointed until I put the home made diopters in them.
Don't forget the goggles are not the only part of the system.
A good camera and Tx can also make a big difference.
The camera vtx combo on these little things is not bad, but you will see a huge improvement when you use a bigger better camera.

Butt Stambo  what camera and TX would you recommend? Not for the QX90c but when my TBS Xracer comes in :?: http://team-blacksheep.com/products/product:1264. This is the camera that comes with it. I will be having many more question since this FPV is new to me and I'm clueless  . I do have 9 batteries under my belt with the QX90c and without losing the quad or crashing it :o

If it comes from TBS, generally it will be pretty good and most likely better than what's on the QX90c.
Once you start getting bigger, around 250 size, you can carry a bit more weight, generally bigger cameras and lenses so better optics.
You can also start carrying HD cams to record your flights.
Recording and sharing is all part of the fun too. :)

Hey 9 batteries without a crash?
Far better than I did starting off.
You are not trying hard enough. :D

FPV is addictive for sure, I am not happy if I don't get in at least one flight every day.

Thanks Stambo for the information. I really don't think I will go no bigger then the TBS, 120mm. That will be fine for me to fart around the house. Maybe make a small track to have fun with out back, chase the neighbors dog and kids  but that about it. My helis are addictive to me. I like the challenge in making my birds do stuff.

Suppose it just depends on the $ u want to spend.. but it's like anything else, pay for what u get. I'm very pleased with my Dominator V3 goggles.. wasn't cheap.. but picture is very good, built in DVR(even tho it doesn't record the same high quality video u see in the goggles). I actually did a lay away at my LHS. Not sure if ur LHS give u the option.. but it helped me.

Yeah, I really don't want to spend alot of money  I rather spend it on my helis instead. I'll wait til the TBS Xracer comes in. I'll see then how the camera works on the Xracer with the Eachine VR007 goggles. I'll spend a little more money to get better goggles like this one http://graysonhobby.com/eachine-goggles ... les-2.html but I'm not sure yet. So far the 007 works fine for the time being :?

Whatever you get, it would be a good idea to find something with a AV out so you can record from it with a DVR or a laptop and adapter.
