Yes! It showed up here on Monday. I was working all weekend so I never even got around to opening the envelope. The OSD looks perfect and I appreciate the lil note. Yes, Painless 360 has some amazing videos on nearly EVERYTHING relating to quads and FPV. He's a massive asset to the hobby, in my opinion.

So...I'll have a look at some of his Minim OSD videos and I'll see how it relates to my "train of thought", lol, and then put it to good use.

Thanks very much!!!

Re: Derek's Delta Wing With Naze32

WOW! Has it really been a full year since I've messed with this thread/project? That's embarrassing!

I've got some time, tonight, so I decided to mess around with this wing....in hopes of flying it, lol. I'm still using the Acro Naze32 rev5. I'm using it on this wing because this Naze32 is a spare and it doesn't have a home. So, instead of just letting it sit in my parts bin, it's still sitting on this wing. Once in Cleanflight, I see that the throttle, aileron, and elevator are all working properly in the Receiver Tab. The rudder channel is also working properly but, this is a wing...so the rudder is irrelevant. I can't seem to understand why the Gear and AUX1 channels aren't working in the rx tab. I was hoping to have the gear switch "arm" the Naze32 and then have the flight modes set on my AUX1 switch. I'd like to have the flight modes set because I think it would be cool to have the wing "self level" so that my Dad could fly this wing, too.

Any thoughts as to why the Gear and AUX1 channels aren't working properly in Cleanflight?

You have them mapped in the tx right? :D
Are you using PPM or PWM.

Yeah, make sure they are enabled/mapped in the TX setup for that model. Gear usually is automatic, but AUX may not be, or may be on an unexpected switch.

What Rx are you using a satellite or a full rx? Does it have enough channels?

Crap...I forget the difference between ppm and pwm. Im using a Spectrum AR6110e 6 channel rx. I believe I have it mapped right...but I've been wrong before lol. In the rx tab, I have the Spectrum/Graupner option selected and saved.

This is what I get for not messing with these boards for months. I forget how to do things.

Plug a servo into the rx ports that are not working and see if you get a response from them.
That way you know whether it is TX to RX or RX to naze problem.

Ok, I did plug a servo into the Gear and Aux1 ports....flipped the switches and the servos reacted as they should. So, this would say that the tx to rx is working properly.

Because I knew that the Elevator channel was working properly, I swapped the Elevator with the "not working" Aux1. I could flip the Aux1 switch and I could see, in the rx tab, the Aux1 channel slider was sliding. I did the same check with the Gear channel and I could see the slider moving. I put all wires back to their original channels.

I pulled out my spare Naze Breakout Cable. Got the same results as above.

This has me thinking....is it possible that the Gear and Aux1 channels just don't work with a flying wing configuration? But then again...I can't believe this would be true because the Naze32 can't possibly care what configuration/platform it's been put on. It's just odd!!!

As far as I know, naze should still see all the channels.
I am pretty sure when I had a naze on a wing for a while I had a flight mode switch set up on channel Aux1.
Can you post close up pics of your connections of the naze and rx.
It has to be something simple.

Stambo...you were right, man! It HAD to be something simple. I noticed that I hadn't flashed this Naze32 in over a year (still can't believe it's been that long). So...what's the harm in reflashing the Naze32 with a newer "stable" version? I go through the flashing process effortlessly and without incident. I reconnect everything where "I think" it should be. Connect to Cleanflight...calibrate accelerometer...set the board yaw positioning to 180 (because the arrow on my board is pointed rearwards)....enabled motor stop (because I don't want the 8" prop to spin up when I arm the board, lol)...I did some other stuff, too, including clicking "Save and Reboot" after EVERY selection was made.

Went into the Receiver Tab and I could immediately see that the AUX1 and AUX2 sliders were in a different position than before. Started flipping switches and they are working. Excuse me while I sigh with relief, again, lol. That being done, I went into the Reverse menu in my DX8 and set everything appropriately. Then I went into the Travel Menu in my DX8 and set the sliders, in the Receiver Tab, to 1000 and 2000...again clicking Save and Reboot each time, lol.

I moved the two sticks and flipped my GEAR and FLAPS switches...everything still working. Went to the Modes tab and set the ARM to the GEAR switch (and I can see the slider moving). I set the Angle and Horizon Modes (and I can see the slider moving and I can see the Angle and Horizon boxes turn green as I switch between modes. Absolutely Fantastic!!!

I will likely still fly this plane in Acro/Manual Mode but the whole purpose of this idea was to add the self level so that my Dad could possibly fly this zippy wing.

I still have to calibrate the esc, in the Motors Tab in Cleanflight, but I can't really do that at this time of night because my wife and daughter are sleeping, lol.

Anyway....Hangout-Friends....thanks for your help!!!

When the warmer weather gets here, I think I have 6-7 maiden flights to do, lol. So...be watching for new video content.

Awesome news Derek, good to hear it's sorted.
Now you need to make sure it is correcting in the right direction so that it will actually work. :)
When I had mine working acro was excellent, it held exactly where you put it.
I needed the naze for another project so the wing got mothballed for a while.
I think the default P gains were way to high from memory and maybe the I gains a little high too.
May be different for yours though, mine was way tail heavy and the naze happily compensated for it.
When I recently tried to fly it unstabilised it was a dog until I added some nose weight.

Yeah....correcting in the right direction. Hmmm....what's a good way to test that?

As for the P and I gains being too high...I seem to remember watching a video of a plane with the Naze32 onboard and the guy strongly recommended cutting all PIDs in half before flight.

This little wing that I've added the Naze32 to is a wing that I've build many, identical, before. A real good CoG always seems to be real near 7" behind the nose of the wing. I've always had a 3S 2200 lipo on it and I have flown one of them for 20 minutes before I landed the wing out of boredom, lol.

Hold the wing level with it set to self level, nose forward.
Lift the right wing, right aileron should go up (left down) to try counteract and stay there until you bring it back to level.
Lift the left wing, should be opposite.
Lift the tail, both ailerons should go up to counteract.
So self level should oppose what you do and stay there until you come back to level.
Important, trim self level with the naze, not the TX.
Acro will do a similar thing but ailerons will come back to neutral as soon as you stop moving.
Acro will only try to stop the movement, not bring it back to where it was.
