T Motor MS3515-400KV

Post by Derek »

I've got an ambition to build a rather large racing quad. I got the wife's approval, so "it's game on!"

I'm looking at a frame size of 550-600mm. I found this motors here:

http://www.buddyrc.com/t-motor-mn3510-k ... -1591.html (for a 400kv motor, it's kinda odd that it says 630kv in the link, lol)

Anyway...I'm thinking about these motors on two 6S 4000mah batteries in parallel with 40 (maybe 60amp) blheli esc's. Two esc's would run off their own battery, while the other two esc's ran off the other battery.

However, I didn't see a CW/CCW motor. Just this one. I see that this motor comes with the T style prop mount. I was hoping to use the supplied prop adapter and prop nut. How can I use the supplied prop adapter and prop nut but still be able to keep the props from unscrewing the prop nut??

I have never used directional motors on my larger quads, never had an issue.
With that type of attachment use a drop of loctite you will be fine.

I knew that question would come along, lol. Dude...I've got this idea in my head for a 550-600 sized race quad. I fully understand that it's not likely to be as nimble as a mini quad but I can't get this idea out of my head. The only solution is to build it. I've gotten the approval from the wife, so now I'm "parts shopping." Two 6S packs....12-13" props...5.8ghz FPV.

In another thread, I have been shopping around for a second mini quad. I've got it ordered. Now, I want this big quad. Originally, I wanted to use four 6S 450 class helicopter motors but the problem I have with using those motors would be mounting them, because the can of the motor would have to be below the arm. I need motors that mount above the arm. For the past week, I've been lurking around dozens of sites, looking for motors that would suit this new build. I can build nearly anything. Selecting motors has NEVER been my strong suit, lol.

I'll start a new "build" thread on this project once I get the materials together for the frame....a rather large frame, lol.

Is this practical? Probably not! But....no one around here (that I know of) has one. It's unique. I like unique.

You go Derek. I like they way your mine operates. It's good to keep the mine active one way or another. Good luck on the build :)

Thanks Ivan! Dude...my mind runs in 10,000 different directions at the same time. Thankfully the wife allows me to play.

I've gotten an itch to build a 700mm racing quad. My wife gave her permission, lol, so "it's game on!!!"

I'm also going to add a "cargo dropping mechanism" to the underside because my Dad is looking for other ways to drop his 12" action figure, with 72" diameter parachute.

I will surely share some details on the build when I stop changing my mind about the "details" and actually decide on something. Right now....I'm in "drafting mode."
