PDB on Fossil's Gravity 250

Post by Derek »

In the past, I've tried using PDB's but never had any success (operator error, I'm sure, lol). On this 250, I'd like to use a PDB that I bought from my LHS. I think it will work but I have questions. Here is a pic of the board:

Now, there are 6 "+" and 6 "-" pads around the board, marked by red and black. Since I am only gonna use 4 set of pads, does it matter which 4 sets of pads I use? I don't think it matters but I wanted ask.

Also, indicated by yellow, there is a 12v set of pads...I'm assuming for LED's. Then, indicated by green, there are 2 sets of 5v pads...I'm assuming to power FPV cam's and flight controllers. Am I right in thinking this? Also, my Runcam fpv cam has a range of 5-17v, so I'm thinking that I could power the cam from either the 12v pads or the 5v pads....although, if I connect the cam to my ImmersionRC vtx, it would then be powered from that, right?

In addition to the above, in between the red and black wires, there are 5 pins soldered to the board.
From left to right, it looks like it says "-bat+" for pins 1 and 2. Then there is "+12v-" but it looks like the negative is shared with the "bat" negative. Then pins 4 and 5 says "-5v+". On the back of the PDB, it says "For 3S LiPo, connect to "BAT" port for 12v" and it says "For 4S LiPo, connect to 12v port for 12v". What do I do if I want to run 3S and 4S packs on this quad? Actually...after looking it the PDB more, I think I just answered my own question. I'm not going to be connecting anything (led's or camera) that would need the 12v option, so those pins are irrelevant to me. The two pins for 5v may come in handy. But then again, if I run wires from the FC to the 5v pads, that solves that. And as for the fpv camera, it will pull it's own 5v from the vtx.

So, ultimately, I guess my big question would be...does it matter which 4 of the 6 pads I use for the motors?
