Bolt strip :(

Post by DOG »

Hey everyone. I goof up and ended up stripping the bolts that hold the motor into the motor bracket to my Gaui X3. What is, if any, easy way to fix this problem? I have red loktite on right now the bolts and I'm going to let it sit over night and see what happens. Any suggestions, like always, it's well appreciated :)

Any pictures.
If the bolt is stuck you can use a solder iron to put heat into the bolt or hole to heat it up and melt the thread lock.
If the hole has stripped threads you can use taps to create a thread in the hole the nearest size up and fit a larger bolt.
Care needed fo r this to get the tap parallel to the hole.
On holiday in Greece so not on here a lot so may be delay in replying.

Thank you Graham for that. The bolts aren't in. Your right about the hole being stripped. I'm not real good with the taps but I'll give that a try. I'll see in purchasing a set of taps :)

With the tap, use some anti seize cream or light oil to help it cut through without issue.
Be very careful not to ht the wires in the motor with the end of the tap, and cause a short.
Good luck.

Thanks Lee for that information. I'm getting ready to give it a try tonight when it's all quiet. I wish it wasn't my Xnova motor screwed up but oh well, poop happens :o
