1/6th scale vintage Sea Scout boat

You drive it, you document it. Story of the day's activities. As always, video is better!

1/6th scale vintage Sea Scout boat

Post by west0618 »

I couldn't wait any longer so my wife and I took my recently completed scratch built vintage Sea Scout boat (from the same era as my Sea Maid...1940's -1050's as I understand...maybe earlier) out for the maiden voyage at our local pond. All-in-all it went rather well considering the wind blowing straight at us.

For this run I simply sat it in the back of our car in my build cradle with a blanket securing one end. I nearly have a transport case made for it now. I just need to pad the contact points and add the latches. It is running on a 3cell battery and the throttle was trimmed back to 75% which may work out well for a max scale speed. This boat is a bit shorter than my Sea Maid as it measures near enough to 29" long. We are still working on this value for both boats.

I can't believe it took me until half way through July to make my first outing of the year to a local pond. But here it is again. As I was again alone, the best I could do was place the camera on a tripod and try to stay in frame.

Thanks, guys.
pvolcko...a skier is actually in the works...every since I finished my larger Sea Maid boat. Just not enough hours in a day...even being retired. LOL I did pick up a suitable 1/6th scale "tube" to pull behind a boat that I hope to try yet this year.
