Hey there Graham. Well, your suppose to. For a one time price of $5.00, for as many crafts you have, I got my crafts done. I don't think that where I live and the area I fly, no one will bother me but what if, that one time, some sort of authority pulls up and ask," Are those crafts registered" and I say No. Good possibility they can take them away. So we say, just for giggles that each craft was worse $300.00. In my case I have six crafts @ $300.00 = $1,800 worse of craft that they arrested and put in craft jail . They fine you and then you have to appear in court, pay court cost plus fine you for just not paying $5.00 to register... It's not worse it. No less, your a marked man/woman. How about someone like Derek, who has a gazillion crafts, give or take a few  now that's big $$$$. It's just another way for big brother to make money and keep tag on you. They do that anyway with your cells phones, gps systems, game consoles, smart TV and so on. You can't win so pay the $5.00, @ least here in the USA and be done with it. Just my 2 cents that's probably going to big brother anyway

Anything over 250 grams or .55 pounds. I registered back at the very beginning due to my security clearance. I don't want to loose it over something this stupid. Last I heard that non US citizens can register due to fun flies and the such. The kicker is that you have to proxy in the US to do it from abroad. I am not sure if that aspect has been corrected .

The faa has worded it poorly. They call it Drone Registration. However, its actually a Pilots Registration because you register, with the faa, with your personal info and pay $5. That registration is good for 3 years. Once registered, you get a unique faa number. You are then "required" to put that number on each of your models that weigh 250g and more.
