Big crash

Post by pvolcko »

So I've been practicing some aerobatic auto-rotations. Got a couple/few dozen of them under my belt with rolls and flips in them. Well, didn't go so well on Thursday. Ended up dumb thumbing it into a blade stall and pretty steep dive. Not enough time to flip out of throttle hold. Had to watch it javelin in. Both side frames, bottom plate, struts, boom/tt, boom struts, main blades (and probably main shaft and spindle shaft), canopy, a battery tray (metal KDE aftermarket one), and at least one rx satellite bent broke or disintegrated. Was my Trex 700, one I bought off Gaba years ago on RC-Help.com. I was pulling parts out of a 8 inch deep hole in the ground.

So that heli is toast. Will strip off the usable stuff, fire sale it, and junk the model.

Didn't take pics at the field. May take some of the carnage on the bench before I pull it all apart.

Yup been flying a fair amount this season. Summer is ending too soon.

I think its cool that you can even do that kind of auto rotation. I was never daring enough to try. It sucks about the crash. Sounds like it was a pretty heavy hit.

Yeah. Probably the most damaging crash I've had with a heli. Basically fell straight into the ground from 40 ft up or so. Very loud thud.

Keep at it!... those r tricky for sure. But awesome! Crashes happen.. I practically had the entire fleet on the floor of my basement for months and didn’t fly much at all so far this year... it happens. Fix’m & fly’m!
