Dustin's Blade 450 3D Update

i wouldnt be put off by the broken DS76T servo Derek, you just hit bad luck with that one, my Blade had all DS servos on and i think they are a great little servo. my blade was rock solid with the 76T on it... and eflite wouldnt have used them had they been crap servo's.

but if you have align on the cyclic it makes sense to have similar on the tail too.

you definitely need a refund though, thats a lot of bucks wasted otherwise through no fault of yours..

Yep. I'm sure it's dead. I plugged the dead servo into the rx on one of my planes and I get no movement. I've already cut the servo wire from the servo (to be used for a servo extension later on) and I have discarded the servo.

New servo has been ordered.

It's just "mind boggling" that this helicopter is so different from the Align helicopters. Definitely an issue of "apples to oranges", lol

If it is that servo it would be interesting to know what is wrong with it. Just for future reference if nothing else... Could be the MOSFET drivers not delivering the current requirements...

I read you discarded that servo, before it's gone forever will you send me it please, I'll pp you postage costs.. If I find the problem I can post it on the forum in case anyone else has this problem..

As it turns out, in my frustration, I cut the servo wires off the wrong servo, lol. I thought I was cutting off the wires off the "dead servo" and discarding the "dead servo". Turns out that I cut the servo wires off one of my decent, but operational, servos and I must have discarded it. Oh well, it was a Hobby King "cheapy". I do have the Eflight tail servo, with connected servo wire.

Tony, if you are serious about wanting me to ship this servo to you, I suppose I could do that. I wonder what the shipping costs would be, lol. On the other hand, lol...it will make me feel bad to know that I'll be sending you a servo that doesn't work for Christmas, lol. Lousy timing, ha ha ha.

I did order a new tail servo. It's not an Align servo. I ordered a Corona tail servo that has very good specs for a tail servo and the reviews were very positive. I bought 6 Corona servos more than 2 years ago and I'm still using them now....on a different plane, of course, but they are still working.

What a daft thing to do... Lol, can't you join the wires back up, I've done that loads of times..

What's the postage going to be like on the new servo arriving, days, weeks..?

I trashed the servo yesterday and the trash pick up was this morning. I'm afraid it's gone.

The lesson for the day is:

Don't cut wires on something out of frustration. You might just be cutting the wrong item. Just set aside the item that could "potentially" be cut and then go ahead and cut the wires when you have a level head, lol.

Class dismissed, lol.

I'll see if I can find a small box for the servo and I'll talk with the post office about shipping costs. Can you PM me your mailing address so that shipping can be guestimated?

As for the new servo, I placed that order about 24 hours ago. My order has been received, processed, and printed. I would imagine that it should be shipped today and possibly be here Friday or Saturday. I will be working this Friday-Sunday, so even if the new servo does show up this week or this weekend, I won't be able to install the new servo until Monday. Ya know...sometimes my work schedule really sucks, lol.

I did inform Dustin that I did order a new servo. He's still quite optimistic and he's still being very patient. I really hope that this helicopter can be sorted out and shipped to him in time for Christmas. That would really be cool!!!

Shipping on a single servo will be reasonable (probably $5-6, maybe less). Can throw it in a padded envelope or small box. Weight is king on international shipping so I'd opt for the envelope myself.

That's coppers then... Lol, I'm just curious to know what's wrong with it, I'll analyse the data/voltage/current on the oscilloscope to see what's happening..

I got an email notification, yesterday, telling me that my order (with Dustin's new servo) has been shipped. I imagine the package should be here Friday or Saturday. Unfortunately, I'm working this weekend so I won't get to install the new servo until Monday of next week.

Looking a bit close then to get it off to Dustin for Christmas. Maybe a new year present...lol

Yep! I am just really hoping that the new servo is the solution. If not, the new servo is still needed...so, if the new servo isn't the solution to the tail issue, at least I'll know that the servo "isn't" the culprit. On top of all that...I got a PM from Matthias, the other day. He has shipped the Scorpion ESC to me...so I'll have that here to mess with, too.

So...I'll have a new servo, new-ish esc, new external bec and if none of those cure the problem, I'll try a different rx.

Are you getting the gyro too off Dustin? One of those has to fix it man... Lol, it's been a pain in the butt this heli... But I'm sure your patience will be rewarded when she lifts off the deck...
