Hi guys.. I had a question.. One that won't make it to reality for a while.. But it's part of my research none the less.. Fpv.. Once I get further into it... I'm gonna want to go further.. So if I wanted to use 2.4 for my video.. What are my options as far as my rc transmitter is concerned.. I'd rather not have to get another transmitter.. Is there a way to continue to use my DX9 and use not be on 2.4 with it? Here is a link I watched and I see he uses different modules on his TX using different frequency a... How's this work and is there a Spektrum version of this? Sorry for the dumb ?

Re: Frequency
Unless you want to start ripping your DX9 apart, it would be easier to just buy a Taranis for FPV with the module bay in the back.
Then you can put what ever you want in there.
With 2.4 video, you will need to be running UHF TX.
There are a few systems out there. ImmersionRC being one of the main ones.
Once I have the spare cash, I will be buying a taranis for FPV, and keep my DX8 for Helis.

Re: Frequency
I've been thinking that I'm going to do the same thing for my FPV flying. Currently, I have a 72mhz Futaba 6 channel tx with my 1.3ghz video system. I'm strongly considering selling the Futaba tx and using that money towards a Taranis Plus. There is nothing wrong with my Futaba tx. It works very well, the battery lasts a good long time, and the range is further than I've dared to go, lol. I just want an FPV tx that is more similar to the computer programming of my DX8.

Re: Frequency
Why do you want to use 2.4 for video?
Check out most of the "Top Gun" mini fliers and they are using 5.8 Immersion RC gear.
I currently use a 250mw Immersion TX on my mini and don't have a problem with it.
I use the Taranis with 2.4 internal module d4r-2 rx for control and again I have no problem with it.
Running ppm to the Naze 32 I can still use 8 channels and telemetry.
I have RSSI and flight battery voltage available spoken by the Taranis at the flick of a switch and also programmable low battery alarm.
Range wise I have been out only 800m or so but FPV on a mini that is plenty.
Video was still fine although a little glitchy when you fly behind trees and such.

Re: Frequency
That's why.. I want to fly amongst trees & objects that may break my video signal.. I'm not looking for more distance as the 5.8 is good (iv read) for between 1.2 a 1.8 miles.. But objects will hurt my signal.. To combat this I am reading 2.4 will do better in this respect.. Now being that I am totally clueless on FPV a d just about to get into it I'll probably start with a 5.8 being that I have a dx9 already.. & a ton of equipment to purchase.. It'll be a while before I'd spring for a new transmitter.. Just try'n to figure this stuff out.. It seems very complex from a newbie standpoint...

Re: Frequency
It's daunting, the availability of all the different frequencies, outputs, cameras.
Just make a decision based on better than what you can afford and go for it.
Most people run 5.8 without an issue.
When I say I get glitches, that's just what they are, brief flickers of the screen.
Not enough to be an issue but enough to give the new FPV flier a fright.
By the time you start getting those, you will hardly even notice them.
What I mean by that is before you start ducking around trees and bushes you will have been flying FPV for a while.

Re: Frequency
Hummm.. We'll see.. Soon I hope.. Which goggles are preferred? Fat shark has sooooo many now I don't know which to bank for? Keeping in mind.. I'm the type that will save for a little longer to get an item that I won't need to upgrade later if I dont have too.. Not to say I want the most expensive thing out there.. But to me.. Getting something just to get it doesn't make a lot of sense if I have to get it again later...

Re: Frequency
Check out this handy little chart I found.
Might clear things up a bit.
I would love the Dominator HD but way out of my price range.
The other option is the Skyzone goggles, those that have them seem to love them.

Re: Frequency
I have the Fatshark Dominators. Lee recommended them to me. They have the capability of having on onboard vrx and head tracking. I probably won't be getting a head tracker for a while but having the onboard vrx would be great. Instead of running a power and video cable to the goggles, I can use a 2S 1000mah battery and the onboard vrx to be completely wireless. Pretty sweet deal!
Got my Fatsharks from readymaderc.com...I think they were around $300. I don't regret getting them at all!!!
