They are on my Outrage velocity 50 I can go all the way to 640 blade

I'm not sure how a too rich setting could cause this damage. I would have expected it to simply flood out if it was too rich. But I know nothing about these nitro engines.

That or something broke loose below. Which I would chalk up to a manufacturing defect with that little time on it.

Have you taken the whole thing apart yet to see if there was anything wrong below?

Did you take it apart while building? Maybe something was left in there accidentally? Did you use the liquid gasket maker for the muffler connection or the regular gasket?

gasket maker: Possibly used too much and a loose chunk blew loose and wrecked it?

Standard gasket: Notorious for breaking seal and leaking, which may have caused it to lean out very fast and cause the damage.

To rich will cause it to detonate prematurely and that is hard on a piston like hitting it with a hammer

Well most everyone Ive talked to says too lean.. Which is my thinking... I used RTV.. It was done right... I did pull the back plate to tight'n the nut over the fan/clutch assembly.. But nothing was left in.. I'm say'n manufacture defect as they are sending a new one.. That's my story(of ignorance.. Lol) and I'm stick'n to it!

Do they want you to send the old unit back or do you get to keep it for spares/rebuild?

No old one was sent back.. New should be here Wednesday.... Lol.. And my LHS guy did not order my other motor as I had requested.. He said he knew he was gonna handle the situation for me & wasn't gonna let me spend the $. Lol.. Love my LHS! Wish they carried my brands of heli stuff. Makes me feel bad to order online even more so after this. Definitly support ur LHS as much as u can!

Ok.. 2 tanks are thru her... Bout to head out & finish the gallon for the rest of the break-in & tuning.. Then I can start tweak'n the iKon.. So I cleaned her up real pretty for picture day this morning as this will be the last "build" portion of the thread... Save one piece.. Got a buddy at work who is a machinist (also an airbrush artist... Painted the tail fin for me) and is having a go at a aluminum anti rotation guide.. Almost done.. We'll see how it turns out.. Anyhow here are the final pics of the build.. Hope I did a better job at this build thread than I did on the 550 last year.. Come to think of it, I may add one more post about discrepancys in manual.. But I'm very pleased with the build.. Tidy & clean.. Just enough color(bling if u will) to look good & not gaudy. Thanks again to Lee for helping me obtain some pieces I couldn't find state side.. Derek too for being right on time with the telemetry unit.. Saved me a couple bucks.. Everyone else here as well.. I love that we can teach/learn/support each other.. Yadayada yada..U guys rock!

Very very nice. The green wire braid did a number on the accents. I don't think you could have done any better.
