Hey guys, i thought I will start a new Thread, so lets start by asking something, Does a 450 heli suppose to dift to the left alot?

Nope! No heli will just sit there hang'n... Now a good mechanical setup will come close.. While u have it in a hover.. Get it flat and hold it there.. With it flat u can let go of the sicks and it should remain relatively stable.. Wind and rotor wash may move it into a drift a bit... But if u mean "a lot" I'd say no.. Shouldn't do that. To be honest I haven't set up a flybared heli in a long time. I find it a more difficult tune than a flybarless.

All Helicopters, RC or real drift slightly left on take off.
But if once its in the air, you are having to make constant right corrections, then your set up is out.

Dustin...Just as Lee said....helicopters will drift to the left slightly. I believe it's a combination of the torque from the main rotor head and the "correction" action from the tail rotor that slightly push the helicopters to the left. You'll probably notice this most on take offs. If your Blade is drifting to the left a lot, this is where your swash leveler will come in to play. Your swash should be as level as possible. If you are sure that the swash is level, try adding a bit of right aileron trim. Because your Blade is a flybarred helicopter, you can add trims. It's not such a good idea with flybarless.

Dustin if you have a flight sim you can practice take off. Just prior to getting to mid stick and lift off nudge your stick right and i mean a slight nudge. Once you train your fingers you will lift off vertically with no left drift.

This does work and i know most people will tell you to give no inputs to right stick prior to lift off, but we are talking milliseconds to the landing gear going light before take off:)

well i landed on grass and striped the main gear, I had a Trex 450 pro main gear, but it didnt fit, im tired of these main gears striping, is there a better gear for my blade 450 3d that wont strip so easy?

you said that you landed on grass and stripped the main gear. You told me earlier that your swash leveler hasn't arrived yet. So.....are you flying that helicopter with a non-level, meaning not mechanically set up, swash plate again?

Yes, that main gear is suppose to be stronger than the stock gears.....however....if you land hard, or have a mishap of another kind, your pinion will still strip the new gear, as well. The pinion is made of a metal. The main gear is made of a plastic. The metal will strip the plastic every time.

i got my swash leveler after i striped the gear, im going to the hobby shop today to buy some tail booms and main gears, when i get the main gear installed then i will get the swash plate leveler and get the heli setup

Dustin, your NOT doing this right..... so youve flown the heli BEFORE youve actually got the mechanics spot on. there's easier ways to kill yourself mate. for god sake sort the mechanics out FIRST. they MUST be 100% spot on. 99% is no good. i cant believe you have flown that 450 with badly setup mechanics... never ever cut corners, nor ever presume "its OK". PLEASE DO NOT fly that 450 again until its spot on... im saying this to you because ive had a couple of VERY close shaves with my helis... and i know for fact these things will rip your face off in a split second..

spend a few minutes and watch this video. this thing could have injured me for LIFE, and i was 99% sure it was mechanically spot on, but the head speed was too fast and the elevator linkage flew off. something i could never have known with my current knowledge at the time.

well it wasn't meant to "hurt" Dustin, but if it stops you from flying until you've sorted it out then that's excellent news mate.... you can see what could happen on that video. it could have easily came towards me...

Tony:) DONT TAKE THIS THE WRONG WAY:) I remember the first video very well, but away from the shock factor, i wet my pants when i saw this the first time on RCH.

Haha, yes it's funny to watch again.... Think I crapped my pants tho at the time.... It's just a warning to Dustin as to what can and has happened to me, and I wouldn't fly anything unless I was pretty dam sure I'd checked everything..

I think the second one had the potential to be a lot worse. I had the main rotor on my 450 come slack due to me not degreasing the bolts. Both blades went in opposite directions, one hit the shed the other hit the fence:(
